I have thought about buying the Speedhut guages and I just don't know if $130 is justifiable. What about those gauges that I have seen on Ebay by Initial K Auto Concepts Inc.? Anyone want to give any feedback on these? Their only like $50!

I have them in my 95. Very easy install, and they look real cool. It took them 5 days to ship them to me in NY. The instructions suck, but it was pretty easy to figure out.

Yeah, I got a set of the Initial K ones for my 95. They look real good. I agree, the instructions sucked. But if you have even a little bit of mechanical inclination, you can figure it out. I didn't even have to pull the whole cluster. I just pulled the dash, the clear plastic lens, and the black trim panel around the gauges. Used a little double sided tape to hold them up until I could get the black trim panel back on. Ran the wires under the dash. Hooked them up to the parking lights. Checked for functionality and put the dash all back together. Took me less than an hour (I went slow because I had never disassembled the dash/cluster before). Well worth it.

whfla1:
you actually had to remove the entire dash ?.
No, just the black trim that's around the climate controls, cluster, and headlight ****. Then just the clear lens and black trim panel on the cluster.

I keep my set pretty dim. I couldn't handle the brightness with them turned all the way up. I also keep mine on green because you can hear a distinct electrical buzz when switched to blue.

I too have had mine installed for almost 2 months. I wired it so they are on all the time, but on the dimmest setting. If yours has burned out, maybe you have a bad batch, cuz mine are esentially on all the time night and day.

And no, it has not drained my battery.

For anyone looking for the SPEEDHUT one, I have mine for sale.

Why would you wire them so they are on night and day when it is so easy to tap into your autolamp/dimmer switch panel right below the dash? It doesn't make much sense to me. I have the original SPmotorsports or cincisho guages... Never got into the indiglo, I guess I had these white things before the indiglo ones really came out. Had to remove every needle, but I can say that it is still pretty accurate. If you're around the VT area and wanna stop by, I'll give you a hand.

The instructions that come with the indiglos warn not to hook them up to the stock dimmer as this can fry the gauges (there is a dimmer provided with the gauges). Mine are wired to my fogs. My fogs are modified to run with the parking lights and I use them during the day sort-of-like daytime running lights, so my indiglos are on whenever I'm driving. I keep the dimmer near 1/2 and they seem to be fine.

Three reasons I powered the dimmer straight to the battery:

1. My first install, I tapped into the parking wires at the pedal and must have crossed them. I ended up melting the dimmer switch. I had mounted it on the painted metal shin thing under the steering wheel. ( go ahead and laugh, i did)

2. Previous owner had run a power line from battery that was just sitting there.

3. I'm not all that electrically inclined and a tad lazy.

Wouldnt wiring to the parking/head light switch on the top left hand corner be easier?

Well, I was perusing my electrical stash today and I came across the gauges! If anyone wants a six color epicenter it's yours plus shipping!

Got mine off ebay a couple weeks ago, wired them as RI-SHO suggested and I like it. White face by day and when the auto-lamps kick on in the evening they come on automatically. I keep my guages on low green and my ford dimmer turned off as I don't like the lights behind the guages at night with the special k faces.

I have them. they look great, extremely bright at night (they can be blue or green with the switch they give you), easy to install (must remove most of the dash)...I suggest them, they are worth $50. Forget paying $130, thats ridiculous.

So, where exactly do they need to be wired for them not to stay on constantly?...I had mine wired behing the light switch also, which is the correct wire...i looked thru all kind of wiring diagrams and couldn't find the right one, cause now it drains my battery...
