You can build one pretty easy with some wood and a chain. But anyway, if you want to come up to my shop you can do it here. Air tools and all :thumb:

Email me [email protected] since who knows when I'll be back to check this thread...

A lift is not nessesarly needed . When i did my trans last fall . I used no lift only a couple of floor jacks .

If u look @ the oil pan and all those ribs in it . I felt that the oil pan could definetly take the wait of the motor , so i jacked it up . I might get **** for this but it worked like a charm .

I know what ur thinkin . That there is no way to get the sub-frame out with a jack in the middle holding up the motor & trans . Infact the subframe didn't have to come out . I just dropped it to the ground and turned it 90*.

It seemed to balance just fine with the trans bolted up . I found a sort of center of gravity . Little scissor jack worked perfect to take the weight of the motor tippin over when i cut loose the trans

I did this my self , so u can see in my pics the fury of jacks i had to lift sub-frame back into position

I have been put in jams @ work so many times ( not having the right tools ) I have adapted the " make due with what u got " way of thinkin

oddly enough I had that sho on blocks and motor jacked up and cribbed . for like 3 weeks ( till chrs from bittersweetsho.com delivered a trans ) . I only had that car 2 days and WHAM the diff. pin let go . 2 STINKIN DAYS ........can u belive that .

My buddie Decker is who i bought that SHO off of . WILD man , he drove that car like he stole it and the stuff he attempted to fix he just made a mess of . But $600 I snatched er up . and no regreates

not really that risky , when ever i was under the car or close to motor . I cribbed the jacks with my own custom design ( yup , more concrete blocks and chunks of wood )

What if one of the concrete blocks had a defect in them and collapsed under the weight of the car? They aren't made to support the weight of the car and I would never work on the like that. Next time spend the $20-$30 on the wood and accessories to build an engine stand.

THats great and all , if u lookin the pics u will see jack stands holding the "car " up . the stacked concrete and wood is there for a saftey precaution . ( in case of the 1 and a million chance the jack stands fail )

As for the motor , yes concrete bricks are used . I don't now the weight of motor and trans combined . But i am asumming that it would be around 500-750 lbs
A concrete brick ( unscaved ) worked just fine , there was not impact , shock loading or shear edges

Remember , i did this with little planning ( i had never did a trans swap on a FWD ) . Yes there are proper tools to use , but if u read this post , It $hit the diff. pin the 2nd day i had it .I was so pi$$ed after the mechanic told me what he wanted to do a swap . thats when i took matters into my own hands in my drive way
