Need some input here. The "no mods yet" byline on my moniker is about to change on my 94 ATX. Gonna redo the undercarriage next week with Konis/Eibachs, 24/26mm bars, TPR everything, Full SFCs, Hbrace, Reinforced motor mounts - yada-yada.
Would like to go with Alum SFBs but I'm a little afraid of making things TOO
tight up there. Don't want to rattle the trim loose or see the front end vibrating with every expansion joint. (This is a daily driver and the roads here in Seattle can be rugged in places.) But I still want to hold a corner with the Beemers and Rice-Rockets.

So the decision is - Aluminum or "Police" Sub Frame Bushings. Need some experience and input here...

Maybe you want to do the gen 3 bushings rather than the police ones. You use 4 rear gen 3s on all 4 corners IIRC. Try a search for more info.

AlFSB, and make the front bushings rubber instead of TPR to lessen some of the harshness. The AlSFB's will give you the most improvement in steering response and handling, much moreso than the TPR bushings. Thats what I'm running with, and I live in NYC and don't have any real problems with my setup.

Ishodu - Thanks for the good info. Hadn't heard of the Gen 3 option. Search turned up all kinds of good stuff. Found a number of other things to be concerned about in this area to get whatever I do done right the first time.

ALFSBs are my first choice. Still a bit nervous about the ride - but getting better.

RacerX Good suggestion. Chose TPR to control front/rear motion of the axles, though. Got a view of this thing on the rollers when I went for emissions check and decided I want no more of THAT action. I've heard about NYC streets and if ALFSBs are a semi-acceptable ride there then I guess they'll pass muster here.

Right now I'm leaning Aluminum. As long as it doesn't ride like a Morgan. If it does I can always refit to something more forgiving. :)

I tried the ALSBs and they were just too much for me. NVH increased considerably in my case. My SHO currently has the Gen III. bushings all around now and I love them. Along with the firmer suspension (new Eibachs, Tokicos all around, TPR bushings everywhere, SHONUT reinforced mounts, etc.) the Gen III. bushings help strike the balance that I desire between comfort and handling.

if you are going with koni struts then the ALSFB's are perfect, it is like driving a different car with those in, we say improved steering feal but untill you feal the difference you have no idea what were talking about. it is amazing.

If you are going solid motor mounts, I would recommend not going with al-sfbs. I have solids, albeit with cams, but it can be pretty harsh. Go with the gen3s.

ASFB all the way.
I have them on my 98 SE and I have some on the way (shonutperfromance) for my other 98 SE and I'll soon be getting some for my 90 SHO. My oem SFB on my 98 are beyond shot and are falling aprt. The ASFB don't fall apart and will probably never need to be replaced. And I "think" the ASFB are alot cheapier (in price) than the rubber or HD ones also

I've got the ASB's on mine and as far as suspention mods go it was by far my favorite. I don't think they are that rough but my car is not set up the same as yours underneath. If you ask me, I vote for aluminum.

With everything solid down there, something has got to give. The Gen3s are stiff, but they are made out of rubber so they will absorb some vibration. But again, something has got to give.

I have AlSFBs and I have not experienced any extra vibration from my original SFBs. I would get them again if I had to.
