Wow what a difference a tune makes. Car pulls strong, very strong. Seems to have a lot of power everywhere and the shifts are much improved. I haven't had a chance to do any really hard full out runs but the few 0-60 runs I did were really nice. I hit it once on the interstate and where it was lacking before at highway speeds, it lacks no more! Nice crisp downshift and it starts pulling right away.

Thanks to the Livernois guys they have been fantastic to work with and very responsive, great customer service. I wish I was local there I'd have the car on there dyno for sure.

If anyone is considering a tune, it's soooooo worth it!:omgsho:

Quick question for the SCT guys, have you been able to datalog with your tuner at all? I tried and only got some values for spark, everything else was all zero's.

I just got my tuner from Unleashed for my Flex EB. I'm using the 14 psi 60WHP tune. Absolutely crazy. Second gear fights for traction for about 5 feet or so. Half way through first it starts spinning all four wheels while still hauling ass. As far as data logging goes, return your vehicle back to stock and then upgrade your firmware. you should be at .23 instead of .22. this should fix the data logging issues. They highly recommend you return to stock first.

Is their any reason to stay away from the Stage 3? Waiting to order here but can't decide between 2 & 3. And having the Airaid too is their a setting for CAI? Will Livernois provide updates to our tunes too?

It's a daily driver and I certainly wouldn't be "getting on it" all the time. I'm grownup now:dribble: Really I told my wife that too:p

The SCT tuner from Unleashed comes with 3 tunes....and Torrie will work with you and any mods you currently have or add in the future.

I am running his stage 3 tune...its awesome!!! Use the car for my daily drive.....I've run a couple of guys from a stop light and the look on their face has been priceless

You should see the look on their faces when a big old Flex running a stage 3 does that to them. :hail:

As far as a re-tune for a CAI, Torrie says it's not needed. The tune will compensate. As for stop and go driving with a stage 3, you wont really notice any difference till you get on it. :dribble:

YOu WILL NOTICE the tranny tune!!! That's why it's the most important part of the overall tuning process, as it makes our daily driving much more of a pleasure.

My Conti Extreme DW summer tires also limit the wheel spin, compared to stock Goodyear RS-A on Brick, when I really get on it.

Yes Rick is great, there customer service and response is fantastic and they can send you all 3 tunes as well (I have all 3). I immediately installed the Stage 3 cause that's just me. I love it. Firmed the shifts up nicely, the way they should be but not to harsh. Under normal driving you really can't tell it's tuned at all. It runs just fantastic. When you stomp it, it goes, quickly!

I've been watching the mileage, bar thingy and under normal driving crusing it's up to full on the meter. I've only dropped .1 on the MPG cause I've had my foot in it a bit. OK quite a bit. On the interstate it seems to be the same or a bit better. I gave him my mods and the fuel I run and he emailed me the tunes. Loaded to tuner, then loaded to car. Easy. I love it, can't imaging going back to stock.

I had a couple stop by and just ogle over the car tonight, it was cool. They even asked to see the inside and were like "WOW I can't believe that's a Taurus?". Then when I told them its over 400HP their jaw dropped :dribble: Ford knocked one out of the park for sure. I got all my friends driving Fords now, they love them. My buddy just got a new Mustang 5.0, his wife a Fusion Sport, my Wife has an Edge and my other buddy just bought a Taurus SEL, not to mention most of my family has some year of Taurus (this one is personally my 2nd).

Can anyone clarify more on the warranty issues? What can they do if they find the tune? Does magnuson still apply? Can they see its been flashed even after you go back to stock?

These stories are making me really want to tune my car.

Way2evil.....well about the warranty...yes magnussen applies. If you have an engine related issue that they can trace back to the tune, it may be an issue. My advice, get in close with you service dept. :) if it's a claim that has nothing to do with the engine or trans, doesn't really matter if it's tunes or not

To: All Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealerships
Subject: Aftermarket Modifications – Warranty Cancellation

BACKGROUND
Aftermarket companies (referred to as "tuners") attempt to increase an engine's torque and power output beyond the design limits which may cause powertrain failures. This is often accomplished by modifying the engine calibration (referred to as "chipping") but may also include modifications or adjustments to other components. Per the Warranty Guide that is provided to the customer and the Warranty & Policy Manual, failures resulting from modifications are not warranted by Ford Motor Company.

All powertrains are subject to warranty cancellation if a modification causes a failure. For the 3.5L EcoBoost technical service bulletin TSB 10-2-6 was published to enable your technicians to determine:

If a powertrain failure resulted from an unauthorized modification
If the engine, transmission, or entire powertrain warranty should be cancelled
Per the inspection process included in this TSB a Ford Motor Company inspector may assist with this analysis. When the inspection process clearly indicates that a failure was caused by an unauthorized modification/alteration the repair should not be completed under Warranty and, using the following process, the vehicle's remaining Engine, Transmission, or Powertrain warranty should be cancelled.

WARRANTY CANCELLATION PROCESS
To initiate a warranty cancellation on an affected vehicle, submit a warranty cancellation request form through FMCDealer.com. This on-line form can be accessed as follows:

FMCDealer.com
Select Parts & Service tab
Select Warranty Administration & Parts Return
Select Warranty Cancellation / Reinstatement Request Form
Complete and submit this form on-line.

Once the warranty is cancelled an OASIS message will advise all dealerships that the vehicle is no longer eligible for warranty coverage.

This has always been the case but now they just have a TSB to cover it. That's what they make junk yards for.

If you revert back to stock before you bring it in can they still tell you had it tuned?

Yes, people have mentioned tunes leave a footprint on the computer which can be seen by Techs. Not sure if this has been confirmed or not, but this is the reason why I wont tune my car until the warranty is up, and to make sure the ecoboost engine can handle it.

Yes, tuning WILL mark the factory computer and tell the dealership techs that the vehicle has been chipped. Use a tuner at your own risk guys. And don't forget about the issue with the bone stock SHO that had his motor replaced. If you tune your car, and keep pushing the limits, it's not a matter of IF it's gonna break, but simply WHEN is it going to break. Personally, I don't want to pay for a car each month to sit in my garage when I cannot afford to fix a high priced tranny or motor. But that's just my .02

That's why I have Geico's Mechanical Breakdown Insurance :) it goes above and beyond the factory warranty, if the factory won't fix it, Geico will and I pay the $250 deductible. Best $36 every 6 months, totally worth it.

Hey, I need to look into that. :dribble: Sounds like a good investment. Is there a fine line or small print that we need to REALLY look at to make sure all is covered though?

I am told that there is a mark on the factory ECM when it is re-flashed, but not what was done. If it is like the GM ECM's, that mark will eventually recycle out of sequence and be deleted. Problem is, that if a major issue happens, you can't drive the car to recycle the ECM enough times for the mark to disappear.

Or am I wrong???? Lots of rumors out there. Someone must have the facts....

Your right about the mark. It will be present. As for it being overwritten over time, well....who knows? But like you said, if it "pops" then there is no driving to see if that will ever happen. Basically, if you like your warranty, don't tune. If ya don't care for the warranty, tune away. I have a bad feeling that once the weather gets colder during the winter months these now modded cars are going to like the cold weather and that's when problems occur due to our right foot on the accelerator. You have to be careful I know on supercharged vehicles in the colder months, but I don't know too much if the same holds true for turbocharged ones.

I just bought another ECM for my GM car which has the tune. I just reinstall the stock ECM if that becomes necessary. An extra ECM maybe the way to go for you too.
