Today When I started the car there was a HORRIBLE rattle coming from the passenger side front of the car. When the RPM's settled down at idle it stopped, But came back, and then stopped. For some reason, The thought Occured to me that it might be an A/C issue, as the A/C Works REALLY good but makes funny noises under the hood while going. So, I turned on the A/C And the noise immidiatly vanished. I turned off the car, With the A/C Off, started it up with the A/C Off, and there it was again, But as soon as the A/C was on, the noise was non exsistant. Like I said, the A/C works Perfect in this car, But that noise is killing me.

Yup. Same issue. Replacing the clutch assembly should solve it. There is a bushing behind the clutch that is most likely cracked. When the AC compressor clutch engages, it slides over this bushing...hence no noise. With the AC off, the thing will rattle like crazy at just the right rpm. Raise idle speed, sound will stop. I've lived with it for over a year now. Embarrassing, but relatively harmless so far. I just leave the climate control on automatic all the time.
