Today I bought a 2010 MKT with EcoBoost for my wife to haul the kids around with. It's a former Corporate Fleet vehicle and it runs strong. I hope to spend some time with the clay bar, buffer, and Collinite before posting photos. After spending 2 hours on the highway bringing it home, I wish the THX stereo was offered in the SHO.

I did get the paint all cleaned up last night, but my first order of business today was to remove all four rotor and take them in to be machined (had a pulsating pedal when braking). Photos of it up on jackstands wouldn't look very impressive.

Yep, there are several things in the MKT that are really nice. The adaptive HID's are nice, as is the adaptive cruise and the THX stereo as you found out already. If it's more than a year old, go ahead and change the cabin air filter-ours was uber-nasty.

I did pull out the cabin filter and bought one from the parts store but it doesn't appear to be the correct one. I think I'll take the advice of other members of this forum and order a couple from Rock Auto. It's mostly black, but light still comes through it so it's not plugged anyway.

Even with me enjoying the power a bit, the MKT still averaged just over 22 mpg with mostly highway driving on the trip home from the dealer. There was a slight head wind so it could probably do slightly better, especially when my wife is able to drive it. She doesn't care about power. My biggest concern with her driving it (besides the size of it) is that it feels like it's barely moving even when it's going 30 mph.

Here are a few photos I took of it this evening. I haven't scaled them down so I apologize if they show up huge.

Little touches, like the lighted sill plates, really impress me.

I'm looking forward to several more years of service from this EcoBoost.

The pictures are a bit deceptive. I parked it in there at an angle so I could wash it and pull all the wheels. When pulled in straight it's not so bad. It's actually slightly narrower than the SHO and just under 5 inches longer. That's my shop area of the garage, it's fits in the normal part of the garage okay.

Looks like gold leaf metallic, unless the light is skewing the color.
Ours has shown to do pretty good on fuel if can keep my foot out of it-We were running between 65-75 on I10 coming back home, and it was indicating over 26mpg without the A/C on. Then I got into a bit of a "spirited run" for about 75 miles following another car, and it only ended up getting 23.8 out of that tank. I'm still amazed at how well this big tank of a car rides, handles, and accelerates. What all options does it have?

I've test driven a SHO with the Sony stereo and an MKS EcoBoost with the THX shortly after and I know what you mean, the THX blows the Sony away.

Nice MKT though. Those things have the best interior of any current Ford product IMO, especially being a pre-My Touch IP.

I'm actually not sure what all options it has. It has the EcoBoost of course, the ambient lighting (not sure if that was an option), it has the power rear gate, power folding 2nd row seat, it has a heated 2nd row, it does not have the rear console or the fridge/freezer. It also does not have the auto parallel park feature. I think it has the adaptive HID headlights (saw the lights move against the garage door as I turned the steering, but wasn't able to duplicate that later). It has the dual panoramic roof, but again I'm not sure if that was an option. It has the woodgrain versus the aluminum. It has the THX and rear backup camera (camera is a must with the MKT and the SHO).

I'm sure I'm missing a few things.

Needs some H & R's!

Drove thru CR yesterday about 3 PM. Those photo radar cameras on I-380 scare me!
I can't drive....55!

We are spending the week with our oldest son in Cedar Falls... All 3 of our children & their families live here.

You weren't too far from my house as you were going through one of those speed cameras. I live pretty close to Mt Mercy University in case you saw any signs for that. Anyway, from what I've been told, the cameras only snap photos if you are more than 10 mph over the speed limit, so you may not need to go only 55. ;) I have no proof of that though so I cannot be held liable if you test that out. I've heard that they can also measure the time it takes a driver to go from one camera to the next and issue speeding tickets that way, but if it's not snapping photos of you going through at near the speed limit, then you accelerate followed by slowing down for the next camera so it doesn't snap a photo either, I'm not sure how they would catch that. Maybe that only applies to folks speeding through one then speed up even more between cameras.

Looks like they didn't load that one up with alot of options, just the important ones. The Adaptive HID's are probably my favorite feature of the car so far.

They have a pair here in Des Moines on I235 going east from West Des Moines, and looks like Windsor Heights wants in on the $ and will be installing a set going West....glad I live north of town, we are safe from cameras (so far). 55? Heck I have a hard time keeping it under 75 :3gears:

Speed cameras are fundamentally flawed. Take your ticket to court and get them thrown out...

Here in Iowa they amended the law, the tickets being issued by speed cameras are classified as a civil infraction and the cities have a much lower burden of proof (and this has already gone up to the state supreme court and been upheld). The good side of that is the "ticket" does not show on your driving record, so no impact to insurance. They are quite pricey however, and thats all it is, a revenue stream for the municipality.

The basic principle is the camera has no human operator. If you can't cross examine a camera, the prosecution shouldn't have a case. Of course, that's easier said than done, but I'd be fighting tooth and nail...
