Finally found out a way to customize the insturment cluster a bit. On most 99 Taurus SE's the outlining plastic peice between the different gauges is a nice SVT silver. I went to ford today to get pricing on it. It's about $33.00 US (the friggin svt coffee mug they had was like $25.00 so that is like a steal from ford's pricing

)

Now I just need to get my dash apart in that area to get to it.

Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil
Cool Blue headlights (much brighter than stock and look much better)
Installing ride control switch soon
OBD-II diagnostic Module and so far no codes appeared whew!

Next Mods:
-Borla Exhaust (maybe even flowmasters)
-Paint brake capilers (or polish them)
-Colgan Bra from CincySHO
-SHO lettering on the doors
-Upgrade intake system
-and probally a few more as I think of them.

I saw that on my Aunt's 99 and thought it would look nice in mine. It would look even better with white face gauges. Anybody make them yet? I didn't bring it up because of the PITA it was to put them in my Explorer.

What is it that people find attractive about white faced instruments? I find them hard to read due to being too bright, and the glare problem on a sunny day is a real pain. At night they are much more difficult than a dark face with an illuminated needle. Aside from them being nice and retro, why?

I'm not that much of a fan of white faced gauges but hey it looks nice. If you would like some white faced gauges to go with the SVT silver looking platic piece then try cincysho.com

CincySHO says they're taking preorders, nothing about having them in stock. I want white face gauges so they'll go good with the Ford Racing gauges I'm getting the for A pillar. Do you think that white gauges are something we can get our own pre order list for and submit it to a company? I remember with my Explorer we did that on the website and we only needed like 20 people or so.

I think the silver around the black looks awesome. I dont think it would look as good with white guages though. The silver stands out with the black guages. I think leaving the black surrounding plastic with white guages would look good though.

Not to poor cold water on anything, but I do not like the looks of it. At least, in the photo. Might look fine in real life, since photos often do not tell the whole story.

But I also like black on black and even on occasion wish the interior color was also black, so...

Mine was built on 15 April '98 and has the full SARC system. I think there were at least two more batches built after it, from what I have been told. Cannot tell you what went into them. Most everyone I have talked to that has a '99 has been happy with it though.
