I got my SHO without an AC compressor as the previous owner said it siezed and they had their mechanic bypass it.

What if any extra hp would this free up? 3-5hp maybe?

As far as I know when the AC is off it doesn't drain any hp. The main thing is the weight.

I didn't put my car on a dyno after I did that with one of my cars, but, i felt a lot of power gain with MAF,FIdanza and no A/C at the same time.

is the AC comp. still in place?? its very important for it to be there as it is a support for the front MotorMount.
You will snap the frt engine support brkt without it!
-there is no gain in HP to remove AC except the weight if you remove everything.

Bill right.

Unless the AC is running the pulley is no more than an idler. Nothing to be gained.

Doesn't the compressor cut out under WOT anyway?

Yessir, it sure does. Gutting the compressor isn't really what gets you the biggest bang. Granted, yeah, it's like 15-20 pounds or whatever, but if you gut the compressor you might as well remove the condenser, the accumulator/dryer, and alllllllllllll the tubing and hoses that run all inbetween everything.

So not only does that make the engine bay look a lot cleaner, it ends up being about 40 pounds, all of it waaaay up front, which helps the weight balance out a bit. And there's more room to get to stuff!

I will never remove my a/c. In the summer, there is just something about cruising at 75mph with the air on. Oh right, it feels good. I lived without a/c the first 3 years I had the car. I'm glad I got it fixed.
