Got a question for all of you.

I can't get the ABS on my 95 ATX to cycle on dry pavement. The systems been pressure bled so there's no air in it. Will cycle on in wet road conditions and dirt roads and such. Brakes are less than a year old. No codes.

Just seems like the stopping power isn't very good.

Seems to me like back in the good ol' days I could get the ABS to kick in on dry pavement.

Does your ABS cycle on your SHO's on dry pavement?

Thanks,

Dan

What's your suspension set-up? Miune will if it gets a lil bumpy and the wheels are not in full contact with the road. ALso seems more prone to doing so in hard turns where the inside tire might be a little light.

Re: ABS

I recently went through the suspension completely but that doesn't have anything to do with it or made any difference.

I'm talking about going straight down a road and slamming the brakes on. No ABS cycling and it just doesn't seem like it's got much power.

The bad thing is I just drove my parents "universal old fogie" car....a Buick Century. It has ABS and puts my poor SHO to shame in a stop. How embarassing.

Well, how are the rotors/pads and are the pads of a generic type? Has the rear bias valve ever been modified? Stock brake hoses? Brake fluid flush?

Brake job was done about a year ago. The rotors, all the way around, are stock and were turned when the brakes were done. First time they've been turned. The pads are Performance Friction all the way around. Have Russell stainless steel lines all the way around. Haven't modified the rear bias valve and the fluid has been flushed with a power bleeder.

Slo-SHO, will your ABS engage if you slam on the brakes on dry pavement like you're doing a panic stop?

Thanks!

Have you cleaned the rotors lately? Take them off, get some brake cleaner, a little sand paper and go to town. Hit the pad a bit too. this will ensure that there is no oil residue or glaszing to the pads or rotors.

I got some brake fluid on my rotors once and it was liek trying to stop a ship with a large load. It didn't want to stop at all.
