Good afternoon SHO fans. I have a 1995 3.2 , the a/c system is fully charged, I’m getting hot air from the vents. I have checked the vacuum on the blend door and it is working. The air was working and has just started **** hot air. If anyone has an suggestion, I’m willing to try!!! It’s hot and I’m tooooo fat to not have air. Thank you to anyone who has advise.

Have you checked the A/C compressor to ensure it engages when the A/C is on? It sits on the engine under the alternator and has two parts. The outer pulley spins all the time. The inner one clicks and engages, turning the actual compressor, only when the A/C is on. Start the car with the AC off, confirm you were looking at the AC compressor, and confirm that the middle pulley of it is not spinning. Then turn on the air conditioning, listen for the click under the hood (you may even hear the slight drag on the motor as the compressor engages). Look at the AC compressor and confirm the middle pulley is now spinning. If it is not, you have found the source of your loss of AC.

IF this is the case it can be anything from a loose wire on the AC “clutch” (the part that clicks and engages when turned on) to a bad sensor that tells the car the Freon is full and system charged (the Freon lubes and cools the system so cars have a safety shutoff if sensor says low Freon level to prevent compressor burnout).

Let us know if compressor engages and we can go from there.

Thank you for the advice, it will work intermittently. Smart idea about checking the wiring. I just put a new clutch on the compressor, I need to check the wiring. I will keep you updated

Given your description, the most likely candidate is that the clutch gap has gotten too large. With the engine off, put a feeler gauge in that gap and let us know what it is. Often, with a clutch gap that is too large, carefully smacking it with a broomstick with the engine running and a/c on will cause it to pull in. That would be one test you might try. Just be very careful where you stick that broomstick!

The next things to check would be the a/c cycling (low pressure) switch and the wiring harness to the a/c compressor.

Thank you for the info, I will do the check. I’m leaning towards blend door. A/C was working and then a thump and hot air was coming out of the vents.
