Ok, So I took a 200 mile trip this weekend. Car did fine on the way there, drove good all weekend, and then on the way back was coming into a toll booth and the engine just stopped running. I figured maybe the IAC didn't hold the RPMS up, and it turned off, it wouldn't be the first time.

I coasted to a stop and tried to restart it. No Crank, no click, nothing.

I noticed i no longer have a CEL with the key on, and the Theft light flashes slowly like the key is off, even in the crank position.

Appears the PCM is dead, or has no power to it (Correct me if i'm wrong, isn't the PATS part of the PCM in a 99?)

I replaced the alternator earlier this week, because of an overcharging problem. Alternator would randomly start putting out about 18 volts. I only drove it once this way.

I can jump the starter relay manually and it cranks, but no spark or fuel. The PCM relay clicks when the key is turned on, so there is at least power getting to that relay. I didn't notice any blown fuses in either of the fuseboxes, so i'm at a loss.

Which fuse in the car powers the ECM? the labels on the fusebox are COMPLETELY different from what the owners manual says.

Anyway, with that being said, I had the car towed off of the road and on to a side street, and I need to figure this out. Does anyone have a pinout diagram for a 99 ECU?

If the ECU is dead, I assume I'm going to have to have it towed to Ford / a Locksmith to program the PATS keys anyway?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly the PATS is seperate on the 98-99 models, and from what you are stating it sounds like a PATS module/KEY problem. With the theft light flashing when the key is turned to the run position it is not recognizing the key.

Ok, so the ecm fuse is blown, and blows every time I turn the key on. I really don't know where to look at this point..

Try to locate the ground on that circuit and make sure you have a good ground.....

It's fixed. One of the wires in the Bulkhead connector near the tranny chafed and was grounding out.

I got lucky and saw it spark when i jiggled the harness, or I would have been chasing this forever.
