Sister's stranded w/ her '99 SHO (190K mi on it), she was told the "a/c compressor bearings" have gone bad and is nearly locked up and she can't drive her car. IF it was the compressor's internal bearings or the clutch, you'd think she could keep driving it so long as the climate control is turned OFF, right? Is there a belt I can buy that will bypass it? She was quoted $1400 to get the a/c system fixed-$968 in parts alone. That's crazy at this point, so would like to see if there's a way to bypass the compressor so she can drive the car at least...also her ps pump is making alot of noise, the reservoir is full, but I'm thinking the pump is going bad. Is that easy to replace?

There is, but there is no way to do it without the belt rubbing against the timing cover.

I did this for about 3000 miles for the winter of '06/'07, and the belt wore through the powdercoat plus about 1/16th of aluminum on my timing cover.

The belt you want is something like a 75.5, 76.0, or 76.5 inch belt. I can't remember exactly which belt size I ended up using, but I'd say the K060760 would be the best bet right now. You'll end up routing the belt around one of the idlers backwards (IOW so the ribs run against the pulley instead of the back of the belt).
