I recently purchased a 97 SHO, and upon getting it home realized the keyless entry doesn't work.

I didn't try the keypad before purchase and simply figured the batteries were dead in the key fob. I replaced batteries in key fob and nothing. So I then tried to use the keypad on the door, only to find it doesn't light up and I can't press two buttons to lock. (I haven't found the code yet, I did a search and found the module under the dash, but just haven't been able to get a decent pic yet!).

I checked the fuse panel under the hood and all appears good. I also found the fuse panel under the dash, however the cover is missing and I don't have an owners manual. I do have a service manual, however it appears to assume I can identify the different circuits on the fuse panel (which is impossible for me without the cover!).

If you can post a picture of the fuse panel cover or help me determine which fuses to check that would help alot.

Thanks,

Brandyn

Here you go....this is how to program your remotes. take and rotate the key from off to on again ( I think 8 or 10 times ) ending in the on position. The locks will cycle, once they do, hit your lock button, once they lock, hit unlock. do the second remote quickly afterwards. once done turn the key to off, within 20 seconds the locks should cycle again to confirm programing.

Ok. I got the keyless remote to work and ripped apart the door today. I could hear something loose in the door so I figured it would be good to see what was making the noise. I found the keypad wiring is disconnected and the connector is banging against the insides of the door.

I felt and looked around the best I could but don't see a wiring connector to plug it into. Does anyone know how that wiring is supposed to be run through the door and where I should find the plug? I only have one extra connector between the door skin and the sheet metal and it is only a two wire connector.

Thanks for the help!

Come to find out the door was replaced with one from another car that did not have keyless entry. They put the keyless pad on the replacement door but didn't take the time to swap wire harnesses. I found a wire harness at the salvage yard and swapped it in.

Needless to say keyless entry now works. Only odd thing is the keypad doesn't light up like the Gen I and II SHO's I have had is this normal?

The keypad now lights up...I guess the contacts must not have been as clean as I thought when I put it together.
