95 MTX OIL PRES. SENDING UNIT...HARD JOB?

Hello all, thanks ina dvance for the informative responses! I have a 95 MTX which has been giving me some oil smell for the past few months, never burns it, and the motor is dry, except for near where I THINK the sending unit is..... Is it located on the drivers side of the rear of the engine? If not, where abouts, and how much of a job is it? I did my own waterpump and alternator, but havent looked for the oil sending unit as of yet.....Just happy it is running! Thanks to all for the info!

That is the general location of the pressure sender. It is under the number three cylinder on the driver side against the firewall. It is easy to see and reach on the MTX SHOs when the car is on jackstands and you have crawled under the car from the front. There is even plenty of room for a Crescent wrench to swing. You should be able to reach both hands up and disconnect the electrical connector. You can get the replacement senders at most any auto parts stores. They are not SHO-specific.

The size of the head on the sender is 1 1/16" so if you don't have a wrench that big buy the proper tool - made by Lisle, for about $6 at the auto part's store... it's called something like "1" and 1 1/16" Ford Oil Pressure Sender Removal Tool" or something like that.. no sense getting the car up on jackstands to find you don't have something that will fit.

Oh yeah, expect a couple ounces of oil to come out..
