Hey guys, im new to the forum, but i did search around and read up on some info, but i could not find exact answers to my questions, so ill post em up here, and hope no one flames me :thumb: .

Problem decription:
I just bought my sho 2 days ago. I drove it home aprox, 60-70 miles, got to my driveway and ****, would not pull itself up the hill. Shifted down to 2, and it barely pulled up the hill without slipping. (I did not drive it hard at all on the ride home, although i was tempted :dribble: ) And had no issues with shifting before that. I got up the next morning, roughly 12 hours l8er, and same kinda problems. Seemed to go in reverse and park just fine, but any other gears are questionable.
I'm assuming it needs a rebuild, or i will just have to buy another tranny. I would like to know the Tranny code, i have been told it was an AX4S, but i think you guys would know for sure. Any idea of how much a new/used or reman/rebuilt one would cost me, would be great!
Also, (dunno if this has anything to do with it or not, I'm no tranny expert) the shifter itself seems to be unattached. It is very loose, the o/d button does not seem to work. I did not attempt to pull it off and look, because i was affraid that i would tear something up, they (very unlikely) haven't already torn up.
Thanks ahead for any advice/info!

As far as the shift lever feeling loose, I would recommend that you are getting the actual transmission range lever to move. I am pretty sure you are, but you should look.

Second. Provided that the actual manual linkage is hooked up, it sounds like it is time for a rebuilt transmission. Hope you got a good deal. Sorry.

Do not install a used unit. If you wrecked your car on the way home, your transmission would go to a junk yard. Where someone like you would go and buy it. Drive it for 30 miles, and ****. Get it rebuilt, from someone who knows what a SHO is.

And yes, you have an AX4S. But it is SHO specific.

Thanks Mike! Any idea on the cost of a rebuild? Just parts. Not including the labor. I'm sure, from reading other posts, that alot of the parts that I will need, are going to be hard to find. I am assuming anyway....

Hey, id reccomend getting ahold of the guys at FPS in douglasville for atx internal parts. They have quite a stock of obsolete and random SHO parts. They're a sponsor here, and should havfe a link on the main page
