Hey guys. I came across this car for sale for $800. It's a deep jewel green. It's an hour away from me and I am going to look at it tmrw. I'm a bit gun shy and for good reason. The keys to this car have been lost and it hasn't been started in about 10 years. This is supposed to be a rust free sunroof car. I only have a couple pics right now of just the body from the ad. Should I just walk away? Do these cars sit long well? My 94 was a mess of rusted brakes when I pulled it from the weeds. It comes down to what on the car might say deliver it and ill get it running at home

Unless it's really rust free, inside, underside, outside, everywhere; walk away. Make sure you get a good look at underneath. Where was it sitting? Like you said, if it was sitting in the weeds, you will have lots of rust underneath, even if the body looks good on the outside. If you have no keys and can't even crank it over, assume the motor is junk. Who knows why they even parked it? Bad tranny? Unless it's spotless, it's probably not worth it (sad to say, but true... I have one in my garage right now that turned into a nightmare that was too good to be true....)

Thanks Timbo. That's kind of where I was leaning. Sad but it's ok. I have my 94 that needs to take a drive to SHOCAGO.

Definitely have a look.
Someone trying to sell an abandoned car for $800.00 should have taken the time to look into a replacement key. Especially if that was the only thing stopping it from giving a good performance to a buyer.
If it can't be driven, and probably does not have great tires and a newer battery, the value quickly goes to scrap value, which is around $300.00, tops.
And then you have to get it home. Like every car that has not moved in 10 years, the brakes will be seized, including the emergency, and the gas will be skunky.
Worth a look, but does not sound too promising.
