Okay, I read the sticky above and also searched, but didn't find an exact answer. I plan on doing my 96 upgrade with my next break job. I know that all that is needed is the caliper brackets and the rotors (and new pads), but I see alot of people are using the calipers from a 96 as well. Are these calipers superior to my '94 as well? Or is it just easier to get the "Loaded" 96 calipers since they come with the brakets and pad?

All '94+ calipers are the same.

There were some early SLO calipers with a phenolic piston, but those get steel pistons on rebuilds so they are rare to find.

What Chris said . . . .

'94 and up Taurus front calipers are all the same. In order to use the larger diameter rotor, a larger caliper bracket for that same caliper must be used. That "96 upgrade" bracket began appearing on Taurus's in 1996 (96-99 SHO / 01-07 Taurus/Sable), as well as other FLM vehicles.

Do a search, there are a number of threads which identify which models and model-years the calipers can be found on . . . .

Thanks for the info....I found a bunch of threads with info regarding the brackets, rotors and brak pads to use. I knew that you could use your original calipers, but didn't know that all the 94+ Taurus's had the same ones. :thumb:

I did the upgrade, and the only thing I changed was the brackets and the rotors. I'm still using pads I bought for my 95 a couple of years ago. I know i'm not getting the full benefit of the upgrade, but hey, the whole thing cost me less than $20. Pads were on the shelf, the rotors came off my 98 a week before and I stuck with the same calipers. Now my baby stops goooooooooooooooood
