UPDATE (12/20/24) - I'm open to offers from the right buyer, but not in a rush to sell the car at this point.
The car runs and drives as well as ever with a new ECU. I cleaned out four mice nests and sanitized the interior and trunk space. The car is now stored back on a lift where it was previously safe from rodents for several years. I want the car to go to someone who has a deep knowledge and appreciation for SHOs and this particular car.
This was my track day sleeper - almost bone stock on the exterior and interior but with mild drivetrain and extensive suspension and brake mods.
Known issues: The right front tire has a slow leak. The registration is expired.
Background: I bought the car in 2009 with ~160k on it as a fairly stock MTX. I proceeded to build if up for track use until the last time I took it to the track in 2018. I haven't been colocated with the car for over a decade, but trips to the Portland Oregon area to visit my family where the car is stored keep me using it for track and highway use until 2019. During the pandemic it stopped running for a while and a local mechanic tried to fix it because I couldn't travel to repair it. That was eventually determined to be due to an ECU failure. I got it running again in 2022, but right as I was about to list it for sale, the ECU died again. Sense then I have been trying to get it running during the occasional trip to Portland for the holidays, but with limited luck. The car was being stored on a lift, seen in some of the pictures, but now can't be stored there so it's on rollers on the ground. So the mice have been getting into it and I'm loosing the battle. It needs a new home and I don't have the time to keep it up as it deserves.
The car was decently fast for a full weight track car. I've ran 1:34s at Portland International Raceway and very low 2 minutes at Oregon Raceway Park (~2:01?). You can find links on this forum to some of my laps. I have a set of extra wheels with slicks that can go with the car.
Summary of details (I'll post a full list of details shortly):
-The interior is nearly stock. I have a pedal insert on the accelerator to aid heal and toeing, I straighten out the shifter (the bent handgrip drove me nuts) and there is an aftermarket single din stereo with an upgraded subwoofer in the original box. I think everything functions including the AC, there are some dash lights that don't work.
-The exterior is completely stock save for the foglight being removed to allow airflow for the brake ducts. There is a small dent in the right rear quaterpanel just above an behind the gas cap. There is another small ding on the corner above the right rear tail light and a ripple in the quaterpanel infront of the left rear tail light. I swapped out the hood with another SHO years ago, it only has rock chips. I had all the plastic repainted at some point. The sunroof functions and does not leak. Overall the exterior is in very good condition.
-The suspension has been completely redone. The short list of mods is custom Koni Race insert coilovers, front Cadillac CTS brake rotors with Corvette C6 calipers, rear Mustang GT calipers and Thunderbird SC vented rotors, Gen3 Subframe, front and rear poly bushings.
-The motor was rebuilt and has about 60k on it since. 3.2L bottom end, 3.0L Cams, under drive pully, Big Bore Butterflys, Mangnaflow Y-pipe, Fidanza flywheel. It has a Quaif LSD.
Full disclosure, the pictures were taken in 2022. Other than the damage the mice have done nesting underneath the rear seat, there shouldn't be anything qualitatively different about the car now.
