94 ATX tranny problem

My 94 ATX seems not right, in the last week it upshifts at about 3000 rpm no matter how hard acceleration unless manualy shifted, also has a hard downshift on easy slow down. Checked fluid and its in the ***. Anybody got ideas?

Sounds like my '93ATX...shortly before it didn't shift at all, and I had to get it rebuilt...

Pull the pan and check for shrapnel in the screen. If you see metal, drive it right to the trans shop before you have to pay for the tow!!

Check your codes. Sounds like the all too common VSS failure. Not a major expense, just a PITA to do.

Search how to check codes, and VSS. You can knock it out in a couple of hours.

Ran the diagnostic check and sure thing one of the codes was 452 which is the VSS sensor, Vehichle Speed Sensor, also controls cruse control which hasen't work since i bought the car as well as the power steering which has been acting up as well, thanks to Mike Yeager for the tip.
Now I just half to locate the VSS on the car, where is it?
