92 SHO coolant temp sensor

where is the coolant temp sensor located on this car .

The thermostat goes into a housing with several hose connections. The temp sensor is in that housing as well, toward the firewall from the thermostat.

does this sensor control when the fans come on and off ? If not what controls the fans going on and off ?
