92 about to be set on ffire

i have a 92 with manual and it's kicking my ass now it doesn't start and when i pump gas it stops cranking, but it was running once not so long ago. when running at idle it would start surging really bad check engine light would come on then it would stop and purr like a kitten. I am not a newbee in this area and have checked all basics and much more if you have a good idea idea what this might be, please and thanks for suggestions

Pull the codes... Look in my sig for a link to instructions. First guess is the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

It sounds like you have a bad gonkulator or a failed franistan valve. eek!

As Mikey said, the first step is to check the codes. FWIW, pumping the gas while trying to start a fuel-injected car is ill advised.
