Ok i just put allot of money into my car over the past few years. 1989 ford Taurus, sho mtx 140,000, the problem that i am having is at about 2,500 rpm it starts knocking loud from the driver side top. and when im driving it normally the car starts to buck at 3,000 rpm then goes away and comes back at 5,000 rpm. but when im ******* it, it will only happen about 3 out of 5 times. so i think i need some help from someone that is more experienced than i am. thanks for your input.

the new, plugs, wires, coil, bearings, wrist pins, 70map, cold air, koni suspension, new tires, head gasket, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, new fuel pump, o2 censer, computer, new timing belt, and new crank. and i think im missing a few things. thanks again.

Check your plugs if they have been in for awhile...I had the same problem and found that oil was getting on a couple of them and causing them to misfire randomly, particularly under load/hard acceleration. Check engine light on by chance? There was a thread (I think) about pulling the codes out of the computer here someplace but I could be mistaken. Is the computer the right one for your car? Did the problem start after the installation of the O2 sensors or other electronic parts? Last question do you mean 70mm Throttle body when you say 70map?

Hope this helps or at least points you in the right direction...

yeah i just put new plugs in it right when it started to act up and no there is no engine light on. the comp is good it came out of a 89. and to your last ? yes sorry didnt mean to say map. i also cleaned the map when it started bucking and knocking, still there and also unpluged it it still ran the same. i just don't want it to die, me and my dad have owned this car since NEW.

Could be a cam sensor. When they go bad the car runs like garbage. When the crank sensor goes the car doesn't run at all.

70map ? if you mean MAF, that could be one of the problems; A larger MAF is really not needed unless you have a bunch of mods; put the stock 55mm MAF back on and might as well clean the filament while it is out. knocking from top of engine; can you be more specific as to which side (timing belt side) and is it high or low pitched ?
Is the temp gauge running in the nromal position or is it higher than normal ?

Reread and you said drivers side knock; wondering if this could be the clutch release bearing going souith and not actaully from the engine ?

yeah i put a new cam censer in last night still runs crappy got a little better tho. not much. and how would i know if it was the clutch release bearing? the car runs normal never overheated at all. the knock is coming from the trans side but you cant hear it from under the car only from the top. its lower pitched sound.

The 'knock' sounds like cam chain tensioner(s) (chain hitting cam cover) if no noise at idle & intermittent.
For the 'bucking' clogged fuel filter or bad plug/wire or coilpac. Could very well be that MAF-swap back to a known good/clean stock MAF.

Has the car ever run good with the 70 MAF ? Not 100% sure, but if it is a Ford MAF unit, I dont' think it is a direct bolt on upgrade and needs a custom tune (tweecer) to work. As far as I know only the PROM 75, 80 MAF's are a bolt on that don't require a custom tune; some have had luck with C & L 73mm, and some have not.
