Any ideas where to get the black metal strips that go on/and help hold the outside lower body door cladding? The black line that goes around the whole car. Thanks

The trim that holds the body cladding is the same as the stainless steel trim that is found on the Taurus LX models. There's a writeup on shotimes.com that documents a couple of approaches to making the stainless trim black for SHO. I recently found the stainless trim at a salvage yard and painted them black. So far so good. The paint has held up just fine at this point.

My '91 has rusted trim pieces and I am wanting to replace them. How do you remove them?

Same question...
how the heck do you get these things off? I was going to take a paint scraper to it or a flathead! Also, how do I get ALL of the body stuff off so I can repaint it? What's under there? Anyone think it'll look scarey w/o that paneling on the sides for a while whilst(!) I paint it?

I was thinking also about filling in the "Tortise" inlay on the side skirts with bondo and then repainting it b/c it's all scratched and embedded with gravel marks and tar. Any ideas on how to go about approaching this? I just want to leave the SHO badging and get rid of the Tortise badging.

To remove the side metal trim pieces, open the door and on each side of the door there will be a screw holding on the strip, just remove those and then pry gently to pop them off. There is also 4-5 clips holding each piece.

I went to my canadian tire and purchased a roll of plastic black trim for $13.49 and then I put them on with adhesive all around the car and it looks good.

These screws are just for the stips in the moulding, or all of the body cladding? If not...what about the rest of the cladding? How do I get it off?

On the bottom of each door... 5-6 acorn nuts that will probably disintigrate when you remove them. Then, gently pry the panel away from the door. The lower ground effects (on the rocker panels)are held on by the plastic body panel type push pins and plastic screws. When you remove all these, the lower ground effects can be slid off the metal brakcet on the rocker panel.

I have a 1989 sho that I am doing some body work on.Where can a person find the metal strips that hold the side trim sections on? Also the plastic bushings that insert into the holes in the door and the pegs that slide along the inside of the metal strips and push into the plastic bushings?
