I was wondering if the mounting surface and bolt patter/spacing on the 92-95 starters is the same as the 89-91 starters?

I am doing an MTX swap in my 2006 Vulcan using a Tempo flywheel/clutch and an '89 MTX out of the SHO and I'm trying to decide what starter I'm going to need. If I have to wire in the old style, fender mounted starter relay like the 89-91 has it's no big deal, just getting my shopping lists together.

By the way, this swap is happening. I already have the trans, shifter, and clutch pedal assembly ordered and on the way.

Yes, the main difference is that they went from a fender mounted solenoid to a starter mounted solenoid. Either starter will bolt up the same way to the transmission.

Awesome, thanks. Being able to use the 92-95 starter will simplify things just a little bit.

The 91 SHOs actually came both ways. They switched mid year to the 92 style. I have to double check that i am getting the correct one before i order/buy a new one.
