I’ve been busy doing work at the house, tore down crown molding and installed Shiplap on the ceiling, once I started moving I quickly regretted 5” reveal boards….holy shit how tedious, it was 123 12’ boards. Bought the cheaper stuff that isn’t like a tongue and groove and regretted that when I spotted all the nails. I dipped well into a second box of 2,000 count 2” 16g finish nails. Like just wanted it to be over, then installed new crown molding. Caulking….then hired a painter. Bought a bunch of new tools to collect dust now. So not too much done on the car…but my honey to do list is almost empty. Image

Bought a 2 post 9000lb low ceiling car lift. The height of my career owing a car on jack stands leaves me wanting a better way to work on it lol IMG 9736
Really, I want to step up my wrench game and do all my own maintenance on all the vehicles. So one thing handy to have is a winch installed in the garage floor lol! 12,000lb rated, I used 4 sleeved 1/2 x 3” anchors, the concrete is 4500psi so the ultimate pull out strength combined is over 17,600lbs and the ultimate shear strength is over 20,000lbs. Overrated for sure IMG 9781
Winch works …..IMG 9780IMG 9778IMG 9777IMG 9774
Lift should be here this week. Currently cleaning out the garage, doing like a mini garage remodel (mostly just throwing shit away)

Transmission build getting ready to take shape my guy wants to barter on Drywall work. Waited a good deal for Fuel Safe to respond to my email, which really is just asking them to verify the one I picked out. I think it just comes down to physical space, and our trunks have plenty of that. Idea is for Aeromotive to help me figure out doing wiring adapters and to run their new brushless 3.5 pump lpfp capable of 990 lph or 1200hp. I believe that’s the conversion

My friend I work with on my car owns one of those lifts and has spoiled me. I feel so unsafe working under the car with standard jack stands. Hearing the locking of the lift makes me feel much safer. Congrats!

Here ya go.... look for the lift. We were putting in trans mounts...

You will feel better and more stability. I am too old to play games under 2 ton cars.

The lift is like it’s own rabbit hole bc now I’ve got a lift master side mount opener arriving today so I’ll delete the one hanging from the ceiling. Been looking at powertrain hydraulic lifts lol. And nice garage cabinet sets lol

I feel your pain - charge your friends and family for garage entry fee... good luck and we sit on the edge of our chairs watching the project car.

After all the work on the 1st floor ceiling everyone visiting is required to sit and stare at it for at least 20 min before being acknowledged hahahahaha

Thanks! It sucked bc I did it by myself, mostly lower back was sore from really pinning the board hard with one hand to do the first couple nails for each board. Had 3 aluminum steps side by side so I could just walk the whole width. Cordless finish nailer was key. My shoulders were burning towards the end of the project when all I was doing was sanding. I hooked up a vacuum to a cordless palm sander and held it with both arms kind of like holding a barbell, I’d only get so far and have to take a break and let the lactic acid drain a bit from my shoulders then repeat. Two evenings and I was done. About 1.5 hours a night. Still went to the gym next morning and did my shoulder workout lol surprisingly wasn’t as sore as I expected which was fine with me. But was sore in the low back in a strange way after putting up the boards. All good now, didn’t pull anything but was like a deep soreness lol

I picked up the lift at TForce Freight and they loaded it in my dump trailer. It was a little bit of work to get it out of the trailer, ended up using my engine hoist for the heavy end. Even after taking the arms/hardware out of each column they were still pretty damn heavy. Standing them up was easy. Dad was able to help. IMG 9836IMG 9837IMG 9838
Then before deciding on final placement I pulled the truck in. IMG 9844IMG 9845
After that I pulled the truck out and my Dad and I squared them up, leveled them and anchored them in. Hopefully have it completed by tomorrow but we’ll see. But if the truck fits all the vehicles will fit so I’m happy about that.

Those are a thing of beauty. Gotta say it again, after getting under my car when it was on the lift, never want to be under with jacks and jack stands. You will really enjoy them.

Now all you have to do is raise the roof

I know, I wish my ceiling was 10’5” instead of 9’6”. Touching the ceiling with the top of my car is 60” so I can figure 58” of clearance under it. I’ll take it. Originally I was looking at quick jacks that would be cheaper but only offer 24.5” or so.
