Rotora arrived. IMG 9171
Absolutely the best packaging I’ve ever experienced. IMG 9180
There was a Front and Rear box. This is the rear, Right under the instructions and complimentary sticker was the first rear rotor. IMG 9170IMG 9179
Just massive and relatively light feeling. Under each rotor box was the rest, so nice and neat. IMG 9178IMG 9172
4 piston rear calipers feel light. IMG 9174IMG 9173
Brackets IMG 9175
LinesIMG 9176
Even the pads say Rotora IMG 9177
The front box is the same setup, obviously thicker rotors up front, larger brackets and 6 piston calipers IMG 9181IMG 9182IMG 9183IMG 9184IMG 9185IMG 9186
Absolutely fantastic. Everything is in excellent condition, not a scratch from shipping. Not only super high quality parts but the packaging is just as impressive. Everything is just so nice from the packaging to the actual products. What a great impulse buy this was. Can’t believe how expensive they were even with 40% off at the time. Still waiting on the 2 piston calipers, those are going to be about a month, I guess they fell behind doing a Sema Project.

Once I get around to installing them I’ll weigh everything, old, new and do pic comparisons.

Installed the front turbo (driver side) HeaderShield wrapped parts. Looks killer. IMG 9363IMG 9362
The insulation added maybe 3/16” so that inner fender bracket will need a spacer now to bolt up but that’s nothing IMG 9367IMG 9354

I started the Rotora big brake install. The instructions it came with are the most intensive, easy to follow, tons of pictures, tips, torque specs….a Ford Flex is the guinea pig. Its direct bolt on, you reuse your caliper bracket bolts, and the new brake line is a direct match for our brake line fitting and it’s prebent in a perfect shape, no zip ties needed. Once I finish up a post will be made.

Don't know the wizardry you use to make that all fit in there, but its a sight to watch. Thanks for the post.

What is the net weight savings for the Rotora's?
I have only done the front so far and weighed everything. As far as weight savings I am contending against the Wilwood Superlite 4 piston calipers. Those things are like they say “Superlite”. I’ll share everything afterward in detail but the net savings for the front axle is 2lbs. I’m actually quite happy with that bc the main reason for the Wilwood calipers was to shed some unneeded weight and I was wondering if there would be more weight savings or maybe lose some weight savings going with 15” rotors and 6 piston calipers. But to go from 14” and 4 piston to 15” and 6 piston AND save 2lbs I’ll take that all day.

Working on a few things before finishing the brakes. Chassis splitter and rear diffuser. Going green eyes IMG 9487IMG 9242IMG 9160I want it to look something like this when it’s done. IMG 9254

I’ve been looking into an aftermarket stand alone ecu. I’ve been in contact with Syvecs in the UK, they at first said sorry, we don’t have wiring diagrams for that. I did a 5 min google search and found all wiring diagrams for $14.99. Then asked them if they can’t or won’t? Then they said it would be expensive….saying fly an engineer out and pay him for over a week. Probably upwards of 20k for everything.

Im really getting tired of all the road blocks everyone likes to put in front of our platform. How can a 6 cylinder EcoBoost differ that much from a 4 cylinder EcoBoost….as far as wiring and such. I would assume there’s a good 75% that’s literally identical from the 4 to the 6. And a trained professional electrical engineer with experience….I find it hard to believe it would cost 10K or more to connect it….maybe after 2 days of work you have to pay for their 8 day vacation? I mean cmon, seriously. Ford didn’t make a one off CAN bus for the Taurus lol! I’m sure it’s the fricken same as the rest just these companies have never been asked to look so they assume it’s 100% different.

Eventually I’ll get this thing on MoTeC or Syvecs or maybe something else and way cheaper than what I’ve been told. To me it just means I haven’t found the right qualified person for the task yet. For now I should still run it with the stock ecu to see how it does. I just believe to unlock its full potential it’s going to have to be on a stand alone.

I just scratch my head to the universal uninterested aftermarket community and the presumed notion that our platform’s EcoBoost technology is also extremely complex compared to all the other EcoBoost platforms. And as a car guy it’s mind boggling to me how much love the 4 cylinder gets over the 6 and especially the transverse 6. I just want everyone who slept on the transverse 6 to deeply regret it, including Ford. End rant lol.

First off, that pic of the IC/Turbo/Heat wrap is awesome, love that picture of mean green.

Typical bias of what will make us more money in the long run? The ford Fukushima market or some Taurus with a now retired platform? Sad very sad. It's not like you haven't invested all this time and money, and it's just a dream ask. Well keep up the good fight.

Makes me wonder if it can be done the opposite way by removing the ecu/pcm and all wiring harness and send them to someone with all wiring diagrams and have them make a plug and play kit based solely off of the wiring diagrams. Idk.

I spoke with Jessie from EMS (Engineered MotorSports Solutions). He said he can wire up MoTeC through a switch panel or PEM to my car. Plan is to get the car running, check the system for leaks, etc. Send to EMS to get MoTeC installed and the car tuned. IMG 9490
