Are you worried about melting the bumper from all the heat?
No I cut it out bc I can’t put the light back in. I could have put the light cover on and cut that too so it came out of that spot but there would still be a hole, so figured why get too fussy and just opened it up. It’ll have to get heat management for sure! There’s some really high end exhaust integrated insulation that get molded and welded to the pipes. Like this..45D1B701 87AD 4327 AC1F 8859E58F628C

Nobody makes canards for our platform. I decided to try the Vega Motorworks canards for the Fiesta ST. It took some time to find the best place on the bumper to go with the original curvature of the canards. Once I found the closest area to fitting I trimmed them to fit. And used M5 stainless steel rivnuts to attach to the bumper with the rest of their hardware. 3940D1C4 AA3A 4501 AF8D 7DA64663392B23EB6C98 80AF 4039 BFB2 8B6CBDF7688973EB2B23 EE78 47C9 9EE0 E78EC329DEF7

As far as starting the engine no that’s still to come. I originally wanted to put the turbos in the engine bay and was planning on taking the engine in and out a dozen times for fitment/fabrication. So it’s in there with no coolant pipe under the intake, no knock, camshafts or crankshaft sensors, no flex plate and no torque converter, etc. So it went in once…for mock up and needs to come back out once…..then send it home.

I’m on the edge of my seat with Helix AutoSport, waiting for another update about how much it will cost for friction clutches to be made and how fast until I could test them. If not for a few months then I’ll just get the engine break in out of the way. But if not far from now I should just wait.

There’s still lots of little things that need attention. Ben is making custom wastegate and exhaust trim to go on the bumper and fender to take the heat.

Wheel/tire fitment is a little too beefy and after initial fitment at full turn I found that the driver side corner of my bumper that was repaired along with my chin spoiler isn’t as round anymore. Like it’s warped from the repair. It’s almost 1/2” closer to my driver side tire than the passenger side. But there’s also the fact that I could lower the car more on the flares if the tires also weren’t so beefy. My wheels are 10.5 but my tires are 12.4. That’s pretty beefy! I need more of a square stance or even a tiny stretch so I’m between 275/40 and 285/35 all the way around. I need a little less sidewall and maybe a tiny stretch. So 4 new tires coming soon.

I’m also redoing and making a full diffuser in the rear, need to get started on that. Also need to do a paint correction and start doing a little vinyl graphics to the car. The struts all need adjustment but I need to address the fitment issue first. So while I’m unsure of clutches I can tend to some of these other things now.

The car is still in the mock up phase. I did push it back in neutral and had the ass end hanging out of the garage to take a few pics. I need to reinstall my mesh in the grille that’s just mocked up. And was debating on an emblem in the grille or not? And here I swapped out my 2.5” spacers for 2” and fixed all my fitment issues but I don’t like the wheel being in so far from the flare….so I’m putting the wheel back out 1/2” and going to make up the difference in the tire width/sidewall.
