60k Done Right!

I'm sure this is old hat to most of you, but I'd like to know where you all would recommend having a 60k service performed (and done well!). I don't have a problem doing a lot myself, but I'd like to have the valves shimmed, etc. by a pro.

If you can get to the valves, you've done the hardest part. The valves are the easy part.

Thanks Doug- I can "dig" my way through any engine and chassis component no problem, I'm just not familiar with the process of shimming the valves. Is there any literature out there that would be helpful and also, where does one come up with the shims themselves (and whatever else you need to do the job)??

Get the 60k video from SHOnut. Great production. The valve adjustment looks simple enough, but I have yet to try it myself. The hardest part should be taking part off the car to get into the valve covers and accessing the crank to move the valves

I'm getting ready to do this on a 93 MTX. I ordered the "valve kit" from the SHOshop. It costs ~$650 includes all of the specialty tools you'll need, a variety of different size shims, and instructions. You have 30 days to return the tools and the unused and your used shims and you get $450 back.

Just ordered it a coupla days ago, so I don't have it yet, but hopefully will be starting this first-time-for-me project next week. SHOShop also has the 60K video.

Are you sure about that 650$? I bought the tools myself 40$, bought the video 20$, and rented the shims 120$. Total for me was 180$ and I got to keep the tools and the video. Wild01ride, once you get the video from SHOshop it is very self explanitory, and simple. But, at least buy the video then make the decision.
