I am sure this subject has been beat to death, but I will be changing the oil tom. because I had the 60K done 2 weeks ago.

I really like Mobil 1 full syn. I don't know about Motorcraft semi-syn say for the next 200K on a regular basis. Can a 94 handle full syn seeing how it's so thin? I really don't need to be wasting $$$.

Thanks, Keith

My 2 sents... Stick with fossil oil. It's less than half the price and from all of the reading I have done on synthetic vs fossil oil, you should still change the oil at regular intervals and not at the extended interval that a synthetic oil can offer. The reason, an oil filter can't possibly filter all of the fines that are normally produced under normal driving circumstances and waiting to change oil for that long means that gunk is swishing around all that precious metal inside your engine and grinding (slowly) away at it.

I use 10 w 30 valvoline with a quart of Marvels Mystery oil additive in all my vehicles. My 94 3.2 atx has almost 2,800 miles on the oil change since I did the full 60k back in october and it hasnt used one drop of oil and the oil is almost as clean as the day I changed it. I dont race the car, beat on it or drive it like a maniac. I use the car for work round trip about 25 miles a day and some road trips here and there on the weekends. I drive about 250-300 miles a week. My car only has 110,000 miles on it.

Whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. :thumb:

Do some searching and reading up on the internet since you apparently don't quite understand what synthetic oil is based on your "so thin" comment. Synthetic oil is no thicker or thinner than conventional oil of the same weight rating.

Devin gave you some good links. In the end, oil choice is a personal decision and nothing anyone else says about which oil is "best" is going to be of much help. You need to do your own research and make your own decision.

You may like Mobil 1, but the SHO engine does not. Mobil 1 will keep it clean, but I have seen multiple instances of rapid cam lobe wear from Mobil 1. Use a quality petroleum oil or quality synthetic. The simple fact is that Castrol GTX 10W-30 has lubed my engine for all of its 331,500 miles, 268,000 of those on the first set of rod bearings, and I still don't see wear from lack of lubrication.

Mr. Anonoymus or Unknown Comic........

A guy in Milwaukee, WI recently donated his 89 Audi to a Museum.

It had 1,002,*** on it. He used premium and ran synthetic.

Maybe you guys heard about it. Didn't say if he used a K & N from day 1.

And we have people with messed up engines who ran both kinds. That doesn't really say much.

The premium debate is probably even more hotly contested that which type of oil.
