I have a second generation 95 Sho and it has the mtx-IV transmission. It recently went out on me and I wanted to have it rebuilt, I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to if anyone still carries parts for this transmission. I would greatly appreciate replys as I have looked but to no avail. It seems as if everyone has stopped making the parts, thanks.

Welcome to the forum, I see it's your first post...

anyways, I had Bizzy do a transmission for me when mine went out. She does a fantastic job and there were many others here on the forum that helped me locate the transmission for the job.

Try looking in the parts cars section and post in the WTB section also.

If I can do anything to help let me know.

You're going to have to go Junkyard Surfing or find a wrecked SHO. You won't find any replacement parts, easily. Someone has a whole gearset for around $4k. I'm not sure of the member or company. I do know one is out there.

What failed? Shattered 3rd? Threw a pin?

Nothing totally went out, it was starting to kinda grind when shifting gears, I suspected the sycros going bad, so being that it is still under warrenty from the dealership I bought it from I stupidly took it to a tranny shop not thinking that it is impossible to get parts for. Well I was very wrong. Now my tranny sits in pieces while I'm trying to find replacement parts, I'm so ****** at the tranny shop, they deffinatly should have told me that parts are impossible to find for the MTX-IV tranny as it was used in the v-6 tempo's and some of the probes. And to the above post, you don't have any idea where you saw that new gearset at?

That gearset is available from Josh who owns SHOnut performance.

www.shonutperformance.com

Beth, the forum owner/operator, also rebuilds transmissions and might be able to help you out. Her name on here is Bizzy. You can send her a private message.

Otherwise, check eBay, the classifieds here, SHOclub.com, RCM automotive parts, craigslist, etc for SHO parts cars and/or parts. Josh at SHOnut might be able to help you out too.

Good luck

Since it's already apart are you planning to replace the clutch and TOB too? When our '95 started to grind and shift hard it turned out to be a bad TOB.

Rebuilding the transmission isn't really a big problem. Finding the parts can be. Carlisle isn't far from me. If you would like some help, feel free to PM me.

92 in PA I do appreciate the offer, hopefully we can get it taken care of at the shop, if not, I will consider that offer. I have took the advice of looking around on sho sites and contacted Sho Nut performance.
