30+ SHO fall run?

Anyone else starting to get excited about the Texas SHO convention?
I still don't have a SHO to drive either...sucks.

Anyone know if Avis or Enterprise rents SHOs? Maybe rent-a-wreck...

I'm pumped for the run. I have to do some work to the ThunderSHO. Previous owners weren't too kind to her.

I'm curious to what maintanance/mods people doing to their cars right before the run.

With Texas Tony's help I have to replace the water pump, timing belt and front seal along with adding a rear strut bar and aluminum subframe bushings.

Well right now my SHO is in a million pieces, but depending on when all my IPT parts get here, hopefully I will have the following completed.

IPT coilovers installed
190lph fuel pump installed
Zex nitrous Kit w/ 70hp shot
Optima battery relocated to trunk
3 gauge cluster installed w/ gauges
Cincysho cowl hood installed
Vitek wires w/ Zex nitrous plugs
Ted Breaux LPM reburned for Nitrous application

...and possibly get the wheels powdercoated...

but like I said, all this depends on when I get the parts in. I have a cutoff date, where I just give up, rebuild her for the run, and continue after. But here's hopin! thumbs_u

It's fixed, and runs well, but she's bone stock, and I'm very used to the Green cars heavy suspention mods. I'm afraid I might get myself in trouble if I drive it on the run, and since it's my only mode of transportation right now, I can't afford to break it it any way.

brakes, four wheel re-align (found a curb), sarc switch, maybe dump at the y-pipe (gonna give it a little test before hand to see) might even get poly swaybar bushings and endlinks.

I'm planning on putting a full tank of 93 octane in her before I leave the house on Friday. I also have to select the right CDs. How's that for road trip preparations?

Jeremy, don't look now, but you've only got two weeks until the Run. I couldn't install all of that stuff in time even if I didn't have a job. You had better pick the things you need to do to get the car on the road in time. Save the nitrous for when you have the time to properly tune it before you cook that engine.

Changed my oil. Cleaned the broominator to a mirror finish.

I hear ya Scotty. I am trying to hold off as long as I can and I have some local buddies going to help me on the coilovers and fuel pump stuff. But if it doesn't get here, I can get the sho back together and ready for the run the way it is now in about a day.

what have i done to prepare for the run ? hmmmm...lemme see....

struts all the way around
oil pan gasket
crank seal (though it seems as its still leaking *kicking own ass for poor workmanship*)
top end 60K and painted intake
oil change is coming
complete new front brake system coming tomorrow (calipers, pads, and rotors)

coming within 2 weeks:
wash and detail
fix the annoying speedo squeak
replace bulbs
pray to gawd nothing else goes wrong

and YES ! I AM PUMPED ABOUT THE RUN !

I am currently searching for the previous owners of the ThunderSHO so I can plant a Nike symbol on their ass.

Texas Tony spotted that I was missing a tranny bolt and that one of the axle carrier bearings was about to come off which would have spelled disaster for the ThunderSHO. Ahhh if people just did things right.

Hence with Tony's help we are doing the 60k/100k this weekend and adding all the bolts that Ford intended to have on there. Fun fun.

My car is going to get a carpet shampoo and probably another wax job before you all see it again, I'm saving all of the mod stuff for my GA exodus next year.

Along with this new job comes a significant increase in salary, so mods may be on the way sooner. Alas, it's not 3 miles to work anymore though ( it's about 40 now ) so I will probably get a shytebox to commute with first before so I can let the SHO keep the low miles.

Anybody got a shytebox they wish to part with? I'm looking for reliable, good gas mileage, A/C equipped cars only with an investment of 2 grand and under, preferably way under.

Well, its been about a month since I ordered a clutch from the Shoshop and its still not here. I call every day to check on my stuff but now it seems that I'm calling too much. Might not make the run after all. frown

mid 80's five door civic, 1.5liter 5-speed, white. $400 obo. $12 in regular to fill the tank gets him through an entire month driving, and he redlines the thing in every gear. already has semi decent stereo. friend of mine at work. let me know.

Well, first I have to figure out which car to bring. The 90 is so nice I kind of want to SHOw her off, but the 95 with all the mods is sure begging to hit those roads. Either way, they will get waxed and detailed, but other than that I think they are ready (well, I do have to bleed the brakes on the 95, and oh yeah, change out the rod bearings)
