Hi!! MY wife's 2018 Taurus with the Sony System seems to be having the same issues. Crackled a bit then no sound. I checked the fuses #5 & #19, both good. Looked at the wiring harness in the back where the amp is all looks good. Even bought a used amp of the same type, plugged it in and no luck. I also noticed even after doing a master reset (will no do the power & seek reset) I cannot get it to go to any audio inputs except, Bluetooth and CD..Apple CarPlay will come up on the screen but again no sound. Makes all the beeping noises for back up sensors etc. Also noticed the back up cam will periodically cut out. Does that sound like the ACM needing to be rebuilt?? Also how do you get it out of the dash to send it in??

There are a few Youtube videos on the removal process. I am also needing to do this, same type of symptoms, although they did go away briefly and sound returned for a short while after initial failure.

It looks to be a pretty involved task. Heard that dealership charges $2000 something to do this, guessing due to hours of labor involved.

Not sure if camera cutting out is related, have not encountered that during my research on the matter, but I suppose you never know. . . .

wkebeck, I have a 2014 SHO that had a similar problem last year. Dealership told me in needed to replace the APIM and wanted $$$$ to do it. I passed, oirdered the APIM online myself along with a kit to remove dash and install.

Turned out, it wasn't the APIM. It was the ACM. rewatched the you tube video and removed the ACM, sent it off, had it rebuilt and reinstalled it in about 2 weeks. Works great again. (automotivecircuitsolutions.com is who i used.)

With a little patience and the proper dash removal kit, you can do this and save yourself hundreds of dollars.

And my understanding is, that once you remove, you can put dash back together and touch screen and all that, will still function as normal, while unit is being serviced/re-soldered. So car is not 'down' during repair.

Call that vendor and ask them - I am sure they will know for sure.

They just told me today that they are currently not servicing them? Not sure if it is because it's a 2018??

I asked for clarity and they said they don't service the Sony systems.

I found another, cboardrepair.com. So I guess this is a pretty known issue if there are so many repair options. (apologies if this was linked above, I didn't chase down each one).

I finally dove in to the removal. I spent one hour pulling parts off the dash and center console. 30 fasteners, but all of them 7mm, which was a nice surprise. I counted 15 pieces of trim and dash that I moved/removed to get to the ACM.

Trickiest part was the bezel around the drivers dash display/speedometer, that required a little work to get it out of the way, even with my power steering column dropped low as it could go.

Mailed my ACM off yesterday. Will see how this goes. . . .

Hi there! What did it run you to send it in and did they give an approximate turn around time on it? ACM is the CD player part, correct?

Pretty much same price as the first place linked in the thread, autocircuitsolutions. $169 plus shipping. For under $200, if this fix works, definitely worth it IMO compared to paying dealer to do it. They say 24 hour turnaround from time they receive unit. Yes, this is the component that contains the CD player. I will keep this thread updated as things happen.

Ok sounds good!! Do you have the Sony system? That's what we have. I will probably pull it out and get it ready to ship out tomorrow. Did you fully put the dash back together while waiting for it to come back?
