You can get a widebody hellcat for about $20 grand less.

Yea, I know, and until this came out I would have said the same thing about the Hellcat.

Actually, the Hellcat comes in a Charger as well, and since I have kids...that and he Charger tops out at 204, while the Challenger only tops out at 202. :)

Still love the SHO, best car I’ve ever owned.

My friend has the Hellcat Charger and has well over 1,000 HP! And he's spent way less than the $20k difference to do it.

This is always the built vs new debate and it entirely depends on what you value. There's almost always another car out there where you could build it cheaper than buying a new one (I could buy a Chevy SS and get to 1000 hp for under the $50k difference). Your friend could easily have a Hellcat Charger with that power and spent way less than $20k to get there. Your buddy also doesn't have a vehicle that's covered by warranty. If that power breaks something it's going to quickly eat up that difference and more. There's value in a warranty and that value can vary from person to person depending on how much risk they want to take. There is some value to people in being able to buy a 9 second car and have a warranty that comes with it. Not saying that would be my choice, but I recognize there's value.

That’s me, my mod days are over. I want all stock, which is why my mouth waters at this machine.

LMAO You guys are funny, if you can afford a Demon you really don't care how much its cost or how fast it goes your buying it because its cool. Put it this way, I can probably build a car (without all the bells an whistles) that will out perform a Ferrari but its not going to be a Ferrari. LOL

For that kind of cash, I would buy a Porsche. I got the SHO because of the great discounts you can get off of MSRP. Otherwise, I would have kept looking.

Jeff come on brother, the SHO is a unique a cool car even if no one knows about it, don't boil it down to numbers. I love my SHO and it has nothing to do with the price of the car.

For some reason this comment came back to me, I really don't think someone who can afford this car cares about a warranty, and I don't think your going to see this car in the commuter parking lot. Most of the people who buy these are going to be collectors or for re-sale's. Unless I am wrong they will go quick, you will see one or two on the road an handful at the track but most of them will be in someones garage who has way more money then most of us.

It is unique and the discounts make it a deal that is hard to beat. But if I had to pay MSRP there are cars in the 48k price range that might give the SHO a run for it's money. But for the price I paid there is no other car that comes close, performance or luxury to the SHO. Mind you, I really like the SHO but everyone in my office thinks I drive a Taurus:)

I have a buddy who's getting one for the exact reason of wanting a fast car and still having a warranty. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's the only way for things to exist.

I don't know how much drag racing you've done but building a 9 second car isn't cheap by any means. Then on most 9 second cars, they aren't street cars and have shit for reliability. You build them, race them, and break them. Everyone knows that's all part of racing. The fact that there's a 9 second car with a warranty for under 6 figures is amazing.

I'm with you here. If I had to pay $45k for my SHO then I wouldn't have it. However, I bought a 5 year old vehicle for $15k and I felt it was a great deal for what I was getting. The fact that everyone thinks it's a Taurus part of what makes their value drop. The demand for them is limited to a select few niche people and those who are buying it new[ish] as a semi-luxury vehicle. Once the car is 8-10 years old (or more) the only people that would spend more money are the niche people. For 99% of the population, it's a Taurus.

LOL Jeff I hate to brake it too you, but you do drive a Taurus, all the better when they get smoked by a Taurus, LOL But I am a Ford guy so I am not at all objective.

LOL There is always an exception to every rule, I stand by my statement, given the price of the car and the limited production run its just not in the price range of most people who want a play toy. Your points are not lost on me an I would think the reliability of any 9 second car even a factory one would be somewhat limited. I would be surprised if the warranty is not limited an very specific with a more then a few restrictions. LOL But who knows, all I know for sure is I wont be purchasing one anytime soon.

It would be interesting to compare warranty on say a Ferrari vs the Demon. Ferraris have strict maintenance regimens and driving routines, among other things.

- I never even thought of a Ferrari having a warranty, you could probably buy a used SHO for what it cost to service one. Doing a drag strip launch with a 9 second car on a regular bases is a pretty destructive thing, so I still think it will be a pretty limited warranty.

With only 3,300 Demons being built (3,000 here, 300 in Canada) your odds of being able to buy one anywhere near sticker are about zero. I would guess a minimum of $25K over. Friends and I guessed probably $150K or so. Nonetheless, there is nothing else in the market like it, it's 1 of 1.

In general that was my point, you have to write a big check to get one, there only going to increase in value as soon as they leave the lot, so who cares about a warranty. Oh well guess I need to go buy a lottery ticket, if I win I'll buy two, one to drive an one to look at.

Personally, I will have to agree on this. Anyone who can truly afford to buy a $90k or 100k+ vehicle, is not buying it because of any "warranty" period. That is like saying someone is buying a Ford GT for the warranty. That makes no sense. And when I say "truly afford" it... I am talking about people who are paying in full. Not some millennial kid who has no concept of debt and is paying $1,200/month putting $5,000 down (just because some loan shark agreed to approve him). Those people probably do care because they are making monthly payments. But the people who are doing that are few and far between. I think majority of the people have the money to pay in full and are adding a Demon to their "collection". Trust me, Jay Leno or Richard Rawlings do not consider what warranty it has when they place their order.

And as far as the Demon goes - I really hope FCA keeps their word and makes it very limited (like the mentioned Ford GT)... so the people who actually do buy one, don't end up getting screwed... by over saturation with too much production. Just like how the Hellcat was supposed to be limited, but once they saw how fast people were ordering they just decided to keep making them. So now they essentially depreciate like any other sports car out there. Overall, I really am super pleased with FCA and their decision to keep dedicating resources to the SRT and making these big bad muscle cars and SUVs. The new Track Hawk looks amazing. GM is definitely trying to follow with Camaro and Corvette models...SS is going away, but that was nice. Ford has almost all but abandoned the SVT line ... The Mustang and Raptor I guess. But it seems like they gambled on making suped up Fiestas and Focuses. Good luck with that. Although perhaps the kids today would prefer a Focus over a SVT Mustang, SRT or ZL1 Camaro. We have a young 25 year old employee who will swear up and down that a Focus ST and RS are the most amazing looking vehicle out there.
