2017 Fusion Sports are starting to arrive at dealerships. Has anyone taking one for a test drive yet? If so, thoughts and opinions on it and does it compare to the SHO?

I've worked on them, however I've driven the 3.0T mkz (400hp). It moves off the line hard, pulling nicely, yet mellows out just before 5000rpms. My lms 4+x tunned sho scares me just a bit from a first gear pull or 30mph wot kick down. The mkz, not quite. I'm also sure that it has 87octane in it. HP figures are 385 for regular. 400 with preemo. But lms tuned I'm sure it will be even more of a beast than the SHO.

What I find says 3700. That's about 500 lbs less than the SHO, but 30 ft lbs more torque. Nice.

Wonder if they have a lower ceiling for tuning?

That Road & Track article is out of date. Torque is 380.

I also drove a 400 HP Lincoln MKZ last week. They idle more quietly than the 3.5 ecoboost and they run really well. I would estimate the 0-60 of the MKZ at around 5 seconds flat. They are quite a bit heavier than the Fusion so the Fusion may be just as fast or maybe faster. They are not in the same league as a tuned SHO but if they have the same tuning potential, they will be quicker.

Interesting,
I doubt id buy another ford product after my Taurus debacle, but i did enjoy my fusion when it wasnt in the shop. A Properly fast one should be a lot of fun. It probably handles way better too

I'm not a tuner, so my interest is only in what can it do stock. I'll definitely test drive the Sport at some point.

I like the idea of a lighter car, but I didn't see multi-contour seats (massaging seats) in the option list, and they no longer offer Tuxedo Black, so the cost versus performance/options (adaptive cruise with Stop-N-Go) isn't enough for me to trade in my '13 SHO. I think my next car will be a Mercedes SL V8, unless Ford comes out with a hard top convertible with massive power. (Don't offer another T-Bird with a wimpy engine!)

I agree that the Fusion Sport doesn't go far enough with options and I would also like to have seen even more power. I realize they want to keep the 3.0 400 HP engine exclusive to Lincoln for now but I would like to have seen that engine in the Fusion Sport. There are plenty of differences between the Fusion and MKZ in terms of styling, luxury options, color choices, suspension, etc. It wouldn't have hurt for them to share the top line engine.

I agree from a consumer standpoint to give the Fusion the 3.0, however, poor Lincoln really needs something/anything to get people into the dealerships. Losing the Town Car was a crushing blow that they have not recovered from. Every model left is cross shopped against the Ford dealer down the street and the vast majority of customers go for the $10,000 savings and buy a lower optioned Ford.

Lincoln needs this performance advantage.

I'd like to see a come back of the Mark Series with a Mark IX based on the 5.0 Mustang. It's a great chassis that could support being Lincolnized. That being said, a midsized luxury electric car would probably bring them the most recognition. Something to compete against Tesla, but at a mass produced dumbed down price.

As far as I know, there have been no Fusion Sport road tests from the usual sources that provide 0-60 or quarter mile times. However, from the various Internet "reviews" and from searching the various Fusion forums, it appears the Sport is not as quick as many expected and not as quick as a stock SHO.

I test drove a Fusion Sport last week, and it hauls for sure. It has been a while since I tested a SHO, but it seems the Fusion was not quite as fast as the SHO just based on "seat of the pants" feeling and a memory that is not as good as it used to be.
I was really waiting on the Fusion Sport as I thought it would be the car for me. Now I am not so sure, and am back to thinking about the SHO again, after a year hiatus. Good rebates right now and the 16's have Sync 3.

I would hope so! It went from a 2.0 4 cylinder to a 2.7 v6. The extra fuel consumption from 2 more cylinders had better make it faster.

So far, I'm not seeing great numbers out of the new Fusion Sport or the Lincoln MKZ. I'm suspecting that there's a lot of potential left in the tune. At least I would hope so. Both seem to be underperforming.

I have test driven a couple of new 400 HP MKZs. It is hard to judge since I am used to my tuned MKS but I was not exactly overwhelmed by them. The cars I drove had fewer than 50 miles on them so they would no doubt improve over time. A poster on another forum took his to the track and ran a best of 13.9 in hot humid air so they are similar to a stock SHO. That isn't bad at all but I was hoping for more.

As far as the Fusion Sport is concerned, it has less power and torque than the MKZ so it is likely slower. They are not as light as some people seem to think. I believe Livernois tunes the Edge Sport and they run very good with the tune. Once they have a tune for the Fusion, it should be quite a bit quicker than an Edge but I have my doubts about it being quicker than a tuned SHO.

Maybe Livernois could chime in and give us an idea of the potential of the 2.7/3.0 compared with the 3.5. They are much different engines but which one has the most tuning potential?
