Like a rubbing - rattling

Following - I've chased an on/off similar noise for a few years. Almost like a faint flapping noise but nothing is loose.

It's like a " Styrofoam rub squeak"?

Can't help but similar issues arose after changing out my springs. The stiffer the ride the more interior noise my car developed.

I had a similar noise on mine, turned out to be the dash pad slightly rubbing on the windshield, super annoying!
"Styrofoam rub squeak" is the perfect description!

I will say that I recently replaced my front lower control arms and I haven't noticed it since (they were bad, very squishy). BUT I mainly notice it when the windows are down and it's cooling down so I don't ride with them down much. So maybe, that was my issue or maybe not.

I removed the center speaker and put a piece of pretty stiff foam under the dash pad which prevented that slight up/down movement and stopped that crazy annoying sound. It was kind of a pain but well worth the effort for me since I can't stand squeaks, rattles etc.

So....

You call it a " PAD" the stock name of a dash top correct?

You pulled out ENTIRE middle speaker and removed it?

Or just laid foam in it?

I removed the center speaker grill, then the speaker itself which gave me some access to the area under the dash pad/cover.

Mine is coming from right corner side.(dash area)

Plus when wife puts it in gear cold in morning hood up I see motor rocking on motor mounts.(hear noise)

Could be motor mounts making slight " additional " noise as well!

I don't see @ 70k miles that.

It can be a myriad of things on a new to you 2016 SHO with 80k(ish) on the clock. Based on some of the issues/questions, your SHO sounds like it may have been "driven (ridden) hard and put away wet". The rubbing/squeaking could be as simple as the A pillar plastic rubbing, the driver's door rubbing on the rubber seal going over bumps, the kick panel rubbing on the bottom dash some place door panel rubbing /vibrating over bumps. Maybe the upper strut mount is squeaking. The list goes on and on. Annoying yep, just keep searching.

If your engine is moving that much when shifting into drive /reverse, replace the mounts.
