2014 SHO via CarMax

Hi SHO community!

John here, and I've reserved a 2014 SHO 83k miles on Carmax and extremely excited to soon become an SHO owner. I've read a lot of valuable tips regarding the PTU and RDU, but I wanted to reach out for advice on what else I should be looking for.

Welcome…almost. With 83k grab a 40k powertrain warrantee. That’ll cover your impending timing set and water pump or possibly unmaintained PTU/Trans.

As far as what to look for, normal test drive stuff, feel and listen. Try traveling at 50-55 mph, let off the gas then get back on with about half throttle. Listen for that kickdown and watch RPM’s. Noise or bounce is a sure sign of failing torque converter. PTU will wine or grind. Ask if you can take a look underneath. Check the shaft seals in trans and PTU, check water pump weep hole, and turbo oil lines.
