I don't know alot about this but is it possible to buy a non turbo and just swap good parts from the old motor to the new? Thanks in advance. Im in Southern Maryland for reference.

This is kind of a long story. But the short version is i took into the dealer to get the water pump replaced. Since it was over a 100k it wasn't covered by the warranty. So 2200 bucks later it was fixed. But three weeks or so later the car started to make a rattling noise. So I took it back to them. Within that three week period I had got a oil change at Valvoline. I started hearing the noise before valvoline. Well, the dealer saw that I did that, and since they weren't the last people to touch the car they wouldn't guarantee the work anymore. Told me the motor was starved for oil and the block would need to be replaced. Now since the pandemic I haven't had to worry about a car. Been driving the wife's. We are both working from home so I don't drive much.

Now I haven't taken it anywhere else yet, so it may not need a motor but the noise does sound terrible. Like there's something loose buts there's not.

You would not do well to get a non turbo designed Taurus motor and swap it into a turbo setup car if that was what you were asking. You need a SHO motor.

What is your budget? What killed the last one? There are used ones across the country with questionable history/mileage, there are remanufactured, and there are new replacement (if available) options. Also rebuilt, but I would not do that unless it was a local place where you can pursue remedy if it is not done well.

These also can come as a complete assembly, short block (no heads), and longblock (with heads). Most new or reman are short/long block.

You should look at the timing components and see if those were an issue. At this mileage I would recommend replacing all of it.

Sorry to hear about the service and engine failure. I would be ****** at just 100k. Who would do the work on this car?

If you had the water pump replaced I would consider taking a strong look at the timing chain. I have a 2014 & had mine replaced. They tend to stretch further than they are designed. You have to pull the engine out to replace the timing chain so I would strongly look into this option before you buy a new engine. Also if the dipstick showed that you have oil in the pan how can they determine that the engine was starved of oil? Did the dealer change the oil when they changed the water pump, did they verify oil in the engine during the repair? if not then one has nothing to do with the other. I would also contact Ford and let them know what you were told and went through. They have a program to cover some of the costs to fix out of warranty items.

Pretty sure low oil pressure throws a check engine lite. I think you need a new mechanic.

Another suggestion for looking at other timing components. My shop has a policy on these engines that if they have to replace, for example, a seeping water pump, they will replace all the other timing components.

They have had multiple instances of having to go back in and replace timing components under warranty after replacing just the known bad component.
