2010 sho issues, blue smoke!

Hey all, I have a 2010 sho non-pp with 125,000 on it. I have had the car for about a year and love it. I replaced the ptu about a year ago and both turbos were replaced two months ago. 3 weeks after turbo replacement the oil level started to drop so I brought it back to the shop and the replaced a leaky o-ring on what I think would be a charge pipe. They said they didn’t think that was the only reason for oil loss so I was keeping an eye on it. Over the past month the oil has maintained its level. I checked it this morning before church and it might have been an 1/8 qt. lower than it has been (from top fill line). Upon start up this morning it had a little white smoke but nothing out of the ordinary. We drove about 15 min on the highway with no issue we had to wait for traffic at the bottom of the off ramp and when we started to accelerate again we left a big cloud of blue smoke but it didn’t continue to smoke once we were driving. After church however I checked the oil once again and it was lower yet so I added 1/2 qt. I drove it to auto zone and no new codes. It seem to smoke after sitting at a light or when parked until it burs off not continuous like it did when a turbo failed. Any imput would be appreciated.

I've never heard of it on the SHOs but that sounds like leaking valve stem seals.

Were these oem replacement turbos? SHO stock or tuned? Downpipes stock or aftermarket, catted/catless?

Thanks for the input guys its a stock car. The new turbos are also oem.


Update***
After letting the car sit for 5 hours Sunday afternoon I started it up and no sign of abnormal blue smoke. It has been driving normal and running as it should. I’m really stumped by how it can smoke like a son of a gun and then a few hours later not smoke at all. One would think if there was oil leaking somewhere to cause it to smoke then it would continue to leak.

Let your car run, but idle for a long time. Maybe an hour or so, put in drive (not race) and punch it WOT acceleration if you can.. I bet you'll get da blue smoke eh....

I wouldn't be surprised and would guess is most have a lot more hours than the mileage would suggest. The CVPIs had water pumps, cooling fans, and cats that went bad "sooner" than typical attributed to the extended idling times they typically see.

Update**

Did a spark plug change yesterday and found some oil on 2 out of 3 firewall side plugs. The middle and the passenger side plug were just slightly oily.

Well, if your using oil, could be pcv, turbos, piston/rings/cylinder wall, or a head fault (valve stem seals and valve guide.

Next oil change fill with 5 quarts of oil. Start and run the car, let sit for 15-20 min. Take and awl and mark the top of the dipstick. Put in the last quart letting the oil make its way down for about the same time and mark it again. You now have an acuarte 1 quart dipstick. You should not go through that 1 quart in 3,000 miles.

Best way to rule out the p.c.v. is to replace it. I know there was mention of valve covers for the separator. I don' know what years were affected.

Inspect the turbo and intake system to see if that is more oil on the turbo hot side (compressed air side) or the turbo downpipe side to indicate a seal leak or restricted drain tube.

The next step is a compression and cylinder leak down. The lowest cylinder should be with 75% of the highest in the compression test. No more than 20% leak down.

If these all test good, your vale train is the source of your oil consumption.

Possible valve cover gasket leak. Seen more on 2013+, but does affect 2010-12 also.

Thanks every one you were a ton of help and I have an appointment made for Monday to have the rear valve cover updated along with the oil separator.
