Finally got a package from local dealership, bearings, bolts, some jewelry stuff... Ordered Total Seal piston rings, should be here within a week or two. Cylinder heads got some clean up and measurements. Am I getting to a point when one day it would run eventually?

Just a heads up for those like me who are not familiar with how to order bearings for crankshaft and connecting rods. I ordered 4 for crankshaft and 6 for connecting rods since it is a 6 cylinder. After waiting like long 6 weeks, I got 4 crankshaft bearings and THREE connecting rod bearings. Yes, I ordered 6 and I thought that's 6 tops and 6 bottoms but Ford decided otherwise, they sell those bearings as halfs, so you need to order 12 connecting rod bearings for a 6 cylinder. Geeez, why they sell 4 bearings for crankshaft as a kit and those other ones as halfs? If they would've told me like common sense when I ordered it. I was there in person chatting about my project having good times, after a month I started having doubt if they even ordered it, then another week, another week and now this. Lesson learned.

Hello, unfortunately not, I'm very busy working around the house. There's just a small update though. I ordered piston rings from TOTAL SEAL. Can't wait when I'm done with the house and start working on it!

Finally with the New Year I moved ahead in my project a little bit. Just a quick note my block is machined to oversize 0.25mm or 0.010 inch.

It was sitting for a long time but few weeks back I installed the crankshaft. Crank itself is the old one, according to my measurements of the size of all journals and their geometry they're still in spec. Also - I used old thrust washers. I installed new Ford bearings and bolts. Bearings clearances were, on the top edge, but still within a factory spec. The Question I'm dealing with is if to use a high volume oil pump. Makuloco recommends it for older engines and it makes sense to me. Not sure yet what I'd do... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Then I installed new +0.25mm Sealed Power pistons on old connecting rods. They're ready for piston rings and new Ford bearings which sit on the shelf and waiting.

I'm almost done with gaping of all rings from Total Seal, including top Gas Ported rings. My bore is 3.652. For top ring they recommend "bore x 0.0045" which makes it 0.0164 inch gap. Then they recommend for 2nd ring gap as "1st ring gap + 0.008 (up to 0.010) inch". I'm working on 0.024 inch gap when the temperatures are "work in the garage" friendly. Oil ring min. 0.015 inch.

If you ever go with oversize bore I recommend to go with 0.50mm or 0.020inch. Way easier to get parts then for mine 0.010.

Next step - piston assembly on crankshaft.

Well, I haven't done anything to it since my last post, still busy around building my new garage, working on JUST emergency brake downs on my other cars, and other stuff around real horses, no time for anything else really....but I might make some progress this winter when it finally slows down at work as well. Will see. My friends they're laughing at me that this SHO would be a vintage model for sure when it hits the road again LoL

Keep us in the loop - I know I learn a lot from those of you doing rebuilds.
