I opened up the transmission Saturday and checked the resistance on all the solenoids and they were all within spec. The veins and the pump body looked good. Put it all back together, flushed out the old fluid put in mercon v and a new filter and I am still having issues.

seems like 45-50 steady driving the RPMs move up and down a little, almost feels like a downshift/upshift.

and steady driving at 65-75 it does about the same thing.

1-2 is still HARD

did you have the A/C on while doing this? I've found sometimes mine shifts a little hard when the A/C is on. It won't slam gears, but not quite as smooth as when it is off. It will also cause the RPM's to go up a little while cruising every now and then.

Winter has been getting to me so I decided to swap out my valve body with a reman unit and I have the exact same hard 1st-2nd shift. Any ideas?

Hi spiral,

I have the same issue of hard 1st to 2nd shift others do also - I posted my concern likely under the wrong heading of "V8 Discussions" - You can check it out. There are some useful posts. I recently had my tranny filled with Mobil 1 ATF and new filter in stalled. - The hard shift "hangs" under low throttle when cold. Rest of time is ok. One of the guys suggested a "tune" which I think will be my next step. Good luck John

motor mounts?

I scanned the responses above, and didn't see mention of failed motor mounts. I had a real problem with the 1-2 shift in my car. Violent. I'd get the tranny flushed and it would help for a while, but it still came back. Turned out that the two of the motor mounts needed replacing. There are 3 mounting points - two at the front and center that is directly on top of the transmission. So if the mounts are loose/weak, any slightly hard shifting is exaggerated by the motion of the engine in the bay. Mine made the whole car shake, and was especially bad if you went from 1-2 and back to 1 very quickly . . . which happens alot in LA traffic. Replacing just the front mounts did the trick. Transmission was fine . . . well, as fine as these transmissions can be.
