I currently own a 95 Taurus SE, and have been seriously looking at going to a SHO, but current restrictions (parents) won't let me get older then 96.. I have found two 97 SHOs in my area for sale, one is in MINT condition (75k miles) never looks touched except for a hole in the drivers seat and the D->R and R->D shift is rough, they want 11k for it, i am SERIOUSLY considering that car, if you could pelase give me some common problems to look for so i can see if i can get the dealership to fix them before i buy that would be great.

There was a really good list of things to look for when buying a used SHO in particular over on the general questions list just yesterday. You should go try to find it. I do not remember the title.

Price and condition certainly sound good for your '97. Transmission work is very expensive, though, so you would want something in writing about them taking care of the shift problem at their cost prior to your paying the full amount.

I have seen lower mileags 97's (~40k) for $12's. I'd keep looking if you've got tranny concerns. Also, at that mileage, you're looking at the 100k service comeing up soon.

I would not buy that car. That is way too high mileage for the price. And the fact that the trans is screwed up as it is, is good enough reason to look elsewhere.

Look around some more for a car with 50-60K miles. You should be able to find one for about the same price.

I have been looking, none of them (other then the tranny) have been in such good shape, this one had nothing, not one scratch, not one dull spot on the paint. Would a simple shift-kit fix the tranny problem, or am i just asking for trouble to avoid a few scratches?
