14.2 -Why so slow?

I actually think we first met in either Indy or Memphis, but it wasn't until you were parked next to me in the 10 in the pits at the drags in K-Zoo that we introduced ourselves.

Actually I'm pretty sure the 1st we met was K-zoo. I didn't make Memphis or Indy '05 and you weren't at any before that were you? I don't read the sigs most of the time myself, atleast not the whole things. Mostly just check what state people are from, but after seeing alot of posts you see more and figure things out sometimes.

i think that all the crying about quarter mile times needs to stop. even if it is 14.2 once it comes out and the aftermarket gets ahold of it it'll be a beast. and really why are people comparing it to the STI. apples and oranges. sport compact vs midsize sport sedan. who here has riden in the back seat of an STI? i have. i'm 6'1 and push 300 lbs. the back of an STI not so good, however the back seat of any SHO i've sat in is awesome as far as back seats go. i think we (at least those of us who love our SHO's) should be happy it's back. and for those of you who want to talk crap, go hang out at the honda boards.

I'd also like to point out the STI's 17/23 fuel economy, which the new SHO should beat. It's obvious from Ford's naming of EcoBoost over Twin Force that Ford was concerned with fuel economy, I think they probably could have made a more powerful car (425 hp or whatever it was they first advertised with the twin force) but at what cost to fuel economy?

I think this car is a great highway cruiser, and an excellent alternative to a Maxima SV with Sport & Technology Package, Acura TL SH-AWD, 300C AWD, Hyundai Genesis, or Lexus ES350. I don't know that it'll pull G8, G37 sedan, IS, or 3 Series buyers as they are probably looking for a real sports sedan, but it may attract some that are looking for a car with luxury aims while still providing performance.

4100# of weight is a lot to push, but keep in mind this car will *supposedly* have a very broad torque band. If that power band is indeed factual, I'd say a 13.6-13.9@ 105 (at most for the mph) is possible. Maybe we should start tossin' in some money on our guesses?!

I've ridden in an sti. I'm sorry. I don't see this new "SHO" being all that it is cut out to be. And I know there are a couple of forum members that feel the same.

I'm not being rude about it, just stating my opinioin. Not trying to start an arguement or anything. Just saying how I feel.

Folks keep ragging about 4,000 #s, but keep in mind that the post-'68 GM musclecars (Chevelle SS, GTO, 442, etc) were all n the 3,900-4,000 # range.

The only thing that the STI or EVO have in common with the new SHO is 4 doors. Why not compare the SHO to a ZR1 Vette or 911 and really be a ******** about it? Hint: Apples are different from oranges.

I'm at the point the only opinions I will value are from thse who plunk down the bucks and buy one. The rest of the chattering class here is just background noise.

I've been on the track in a STi, and I'm still scratching my head at how you are comparing it to the SHO. Let's see... it's 2009... yup, just checked: bench racing is still a worthless hobby.

There should be a lot of room for adding power to this coservatively tuned TT setup; e.g, the Nissan V6 puts out just a bit less HP than the TT SHO using a NA 3.7 that does not even have direct injection.

Have you seen the TQ numbers on the VQ37? Not even close to the SHO.
**** the VQ 37 barely puts out more TQ than the NA Duratec 35. Yes the VQ packs more punch with that crazy HP, but it doesn't have the extra TQ to back the HP.

I just found some bad news, the curb weight of the new SHO :shakehead. I can't give you the exact number, but lets just say it's higher than the estimates given in this thread, and by about 2 average guys, if you know what I mean. Now I know why they need 255 or 245 series Eagle F1 Supercar tires to hold this thing on the road .

I take it you haven't yet learned about compressor maps and efficiency. Those turbos, although there are two of them, will quickly run out of steam up top. I'm guessing that they're nearly out of their efficiency range in stock trim. They can only spin so fast and the faster they go, the more they just turn into hot-air blow driers.

lets just hope ford dosent pull a probe turbo large enough for a v6 out its ass. all i know is im putting tin T4s on this car when i get it. i will be broke and homeless but it would be worth it

I moved onto the 2.7T motor from audi after my 94MTX was lost..

One thing you all should know is how tunable TT setup's are. Without the use of a screw driver my 250HP 2.7L went to 318HP/385FT/lbs. The tool was a laptop and a software remap. ( it's about 510 HP / 540 TQ today ) - but that just shows you what is on tap. This car will have legs!

I ran a 14.4 @ 96 with my S4 Stock. After the software I ran a 13.4@103 MPH without 1 single mod. That's 1 entire second in the quarter. I am sure that this type of performance can be attained here. Just wait until the community starts bolting on downpipes, full exhaust's, new N75 wategate valves, etc etc etc.. There is going to be SHO's in the 12's dare I say 11's with some work. If this car, with an auto and awd, can get into the 13's with all the weight just wait until the timing/boost/fuel curves are tweeked. It's going to be a monster with class much like my S4 is today. Let's hope there is an aftermarket for this car like there should be. I would seriously consider buyin one if this powerplant was mated to a 6 speed manual damn it!
