I am leaving to go to Canada for Christmas, and have installed Blizzaks on my 93 ATX. They looked fine when I installed them, but in practical terms, it looks too close. I need to hear from anyone with ANY advice. Is this small amount of clearance between the spring platform sufficient, or should I bail before I have worse problems while on the road? Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas to all.

As the tire heats up it will expand - 1/16th is cutting it close. I think that I heard somewhere that stock clearance was 3/8"...about the width of a pencil.

I had a set that was 225/60. They made contact with the spring platform but just barely...

The real issue was the unibody. When the tires were turned (drivers tire all the way to the left or passenger tire all the way to the right) the inside corner rubbed on the unibody. When the wheels were straight, there was no problem.

I only found the unibody rubbing by chance...but then again, I had subframe bushing issues.

I would just make sure they arent rubbing by jacking the car up by using the control arm as the lifting point. This will compress the suspension most of the way so you can turn the wheel and spin the tires to make sure they dont rub with the tire turned.
