    M20-1.5 in block. The oil cooler is there for a reason. You can relocate filter without deleting cooler.

    Early Taurus/Sable racks are different. I do not remember the date of change. I would avoid 86-88 racks.

    89-92 did not have vaps 93-95 Had vaps The racks are technically the same. Vaps was an attachment added with the same rack. You can remove the attachment and install it to a non vaps equipped rack.

    Heads are interchangeable. However the front head is cast slightly different for accessory mounting. 3.2 cams are also different. For ease I would stick with 3.2 head replacements. Heads are plentlyful, I would attempt to find a replacement close to North Carolina.

    Buy custom pistons. Then take your block to a machine shop with new pistons.

    The racks are the same. The SHO has spacers installed to limit full rotation to prevent tire rubbing. If the spacers are not present, and the tires do not rub, I would not me concerned.
