    ignition mystery

Thanks for the reply Steve. In addition to ohming the SPOUT and IDM circuits, I also did the three coil wires between the DIS and the coil. All seemed to be fine. Part of my troubleshooting also included cranking the engine over while watching for PIP and CID signals. When I did the new...

    ignition mystery

Hello folks, If any of you are subscribed to the SHOTimes lists, you're probably already painfully aware of my saga. If not, let me try and describe it start to finish: I had a little problem with a alternator belt that was too short, putting the tensioner pulley too close to the battery...

    Two different O2 Sensors?

As long as they're listed for the SHO, the only difference between them will be the lengths of wire between the sensor and the plug. I think they're 6", 8", and 10" but could be wrong. The shortest ones have always worked for me on my 92. Justin

    Best 96 brake upgrade kit?

You can find a complete parts list here: 96 brake upgrade This was a costly conversion on my 92 (needing new knuckles and everything), but your 95 would be a piece 'o cake. Justin

    pressure plate / TOB failure

The tranny mount was replaced when I did the last clutch job, so I think it'd be ok. I don't drive my car THAT hard! =) Am I remembering correctly that the ceramic part is actually an insert, and that you need a stock TOB to accompany it? I'm having a real hard time deciding between the 'el...

    pressure plate / TOB failure

Like my post to the SHOTimes lists said, if it ain't one thing it's another... I believe my TOB / pressure plate is on its way out. Although the clutch pedal doesn't seem any harder to depress, getting it into gear is much harder than it used to be. I also sometimes have a nice whirring noise...

new LPM program, same old pinging

I wish it were that simple... I reset the ECM every time I un/re plug the LPM. I normally follow Ted's instructions of simply unplugging the ECM's ground connector located next to the battery. Last night for grins I tried the "hardcore reset" mentioned by some of unhooking the battery's ground...

new LPM program, same old pinging

I think I'm gonna start calling the local j-yards for leads on an ECM. I wish I knew a local SHOwner with a perfectly running X2J setup I could swap parts with... I run nothing but Texaco 91 octane. The only higher I've seen is 92 at Amoco stations. Is there anything better to be found in the...

new LPM program, same old pinging

Thanks for the replies guys. Most all of the sensors etc. were replaced almost 20k ago during the installation of a new shortblock. That includes plugs, but I did not do the knock sensor. No codes at all and it sails through the KOEO and KOER tests just fine. Could the knock sensor be dead...

new LPM program, same old pinging

Posted this to the SHOTimes lists but thought I'd try here too: Greetings all, The saga continues with my ping happy 92. It seems to only be happy (most of the time) with the stock MAF and no chip. It will only ping like that after it's heat soaked and under a heavy load, and only very...

    Proportioning valve again

This has been done by a few, and is only recommended if your car has ABS back there. I will have it accomplished on my 92 soon. You can machine a set of plugs to replace the valves like John Hrinsin did, or wait until they're publically available from SHO Nut. Or, remove the unit entirely and...

    cooling fan motor!@$!$!

I had the (single) fan in my 92 rebuilt last summer. I could not locate the motor separately anywhere, and the cost of the rebuild was half that of a new assembly from Ford. I was talking to the guy as he pulled the case off the back, and his reply was the springs and brushes were very common...
