As I read it, that only relates to a 2-Bar MAP sensor, not a 3-Bar, and doesn't mention what the stock turbos are capable of when they aren't being limited.

    Upgrades

Any substantive difference between tuners? X4 vs BDX vs others? Some are newer, etc, but does it really matter (at all) in terms of what they're capable of when the rubber meets the road? Also, if a 3-bar MAP sensor is required, is a 170 thermostat also required for decent gains -and does that...

    Upgrades

That's helpful and informative. Mine came with the stock airbox already removed, so instead of trying to find all the missing parts, I went with a larger K&N clamp-on with a carbon fiber heat shield. I wonder what the psi limit is on the stock turbos?

So this is all I've got underneath. I am guessing it's the resonator? That means I don't have a 3rd cat and no muffler(s) I guess.. EDIT: Looks like I have resonator and muffler delete. Thanks Kryptto.

I updated the exhaust photo in the above post to provide accurate info. It had me a bit confused at first with a resonator looking like a 3rd muffler and three cats which I wasn't expecting.

Ok, thanks. I may do that. So the V65 3.5 EB engine is transverse? I have the K&N 2820 clamp-on air filter, factory cats and a 2-into-2 glass pack muffler only. It's loud and should have increased intake and exhaust flow to work with (for added performance). Didn't the stock exhaust system come...

What are "transverse applications"? I was trying to get 5startuning on board with selling me a BDX tuner but I can't get them to respond/ I don't know how to pay them since the BDX isn't available at their Taurus SHO weblink below. If I can't get them to take my money, I am not sure how reliable...

Nice. The tape is good and says it reflects up to 80% of the nearby heat, but you may need more than you think and it's not very sticky either. Heat management is crucial with these engines I found. I don't have an upgraded intercooler or 170 thermostat, but I've lowered my water temp and IAT...

    Upgrades

So far so good with upgraded SOS ignition coils over Motorcraft. I recommend them. I had Pulstar plasma plugs but don't recommend them. They offered better seat of the pants performance but no durability and their customer support sucked. Everyone's setup will be different, but there are a few...

    Spark Plug Replacement

Guilty as charged? I mainly care about the 3.5EB mod/ upgrade aspects of this site more than anything else and most everything else on the web is F150 oriented which I don't care as much about and appears to use a different engine layout than the Taurus SHO platform.

    Spark Plug Replacement

It may be because I don't own a true Taurus SHO, just the juicy power bits (and not the luxury amenities) as it's a bare bones Police Interceptor sedan but with the nice twin-turbo 3.5L EcoBoost (SHO) engine.

    Spark Plug Replacement

No, this is unrelated (or that it really matters at this point) but it's 42 psi cold as indicated on the doorjam not on the tire itself and these tires have a AA traction rating.

    Spark Plug Replacement

Better performance with worse reliability. They still look perfect and their heat range was spot on with a nice light tan color on the electrodes. Even their "iridium" nature can't save them from premature failure. My guess is their internal capacitors go haywire after being pummeled at high...

    Spark Plug Replacement

Hey everyone, I just wanted to follow-up as I said I would if anything out of the ordinary happened as the resident guinea pig. No, I don't work for Pulstar and my tires are brand new Continental Xtreme contact at the factory recommended 42 psi. I have an important update about the Pulstars some...

Intake Valve Carbon check for 3.5 EcoBoost GTDI engine -easy-

I sprayed mine directly through the throat of the throttle body and it actually cleaned all the tiny bits of carbon off the top intake manifold MAP sensor with zero issue. I had "cleaned" that same MAP sensor a week prior with electrical contact cleaner, but it came out waay cleaner after...

    Spark Plug Replacement

I definitely noticed a difference and want others to at least try them as well. The "chirp" is a pretty good barometer of additional performance for me. It just wasn't happening before. I think you'll be happily surprised if you can go into it with an open mind. If not, what's the big deal? Who...

    Spark Plug Replacement

Yes to a better seat of the pants feel, more complete combustion, more power. Also, tires chirp easier now than before with traction control on while flooring it on a green light. That's something that's pretty concrete for me and the types of improvements I care most about -although I am not...

    Spark Plug Replacement

I didn't check this thread for a response to my post for three days because I knew it would ruffle some feathers and figured nobody would agree and someone would've bashed it without good reasoning. I was correct in that assumption and didn't realize firsthand experience was meaningless here...

    Spark Plug Replacement

The Pulstar Iridium Plasma plug is a nice upgrade over factory plugs on my 2013 FIPS 3.5 EB. The spark is waay bigger with these plugs compared to any other plug I've ever seen or used because of an internal capacitor that generates a much higher voltage output (see video link). I'm not sure why...

    2013 Police Interceptor SHO upgrades

The combined difference of the Pulstar iridium plasma plugs which use an internal capacitor for much more voltage and a bigger spark with more complete combustion) than other plug types with the Sultans of Spark coils (more available spark especially where the engine likes to make its torque at...
