    Transmission Rebuild & Upgrade

The Junkyard one has 170k on it, and I don't know if it is actually any good (they claim it is but they obviously didn't test it as highway speeds or anything like that). Also, mine does still work, it just slips, so I'll rebuild the junkyard one at my leisure, and swap them once I complete it...

    2010 Timing Chain

Timing things is really only critical when reassembling (just don't rotate the cams more than a few degrees). Since you said the secondary chains are still on, secondary timing should still be on (the sprockets are keyed to the shafts). Also assuming you only rotated the cams a few degrees when...

    Transmission Rebuild & Upgrade

I'm not concerned about the labor, I'm planning on it being a 'learning' experience for me, and since I don't currently have room for a true project vehicle, my daily driver will have to fill the bill. Breaking stuff is a given, that's why I own a Dremel, Grinder, and Welder. :D

    Transmission Rebuild & Upgrade

I've got the Ford Manual for the car, but I've heard there are better resources out there for the transmission, Like the ATSG manual (They have one for the GM 6T70/75, which is based on the same transmission). I see there are shift kits and 'Hybrid' clutch packs, are these not really upgrades...

    Transmission Rebuild & Upgrade

I believe my transmission is starting to slip in at leas 1st and 6th as well as occasionally 'neutral dropping' from a stop (try to accelerate from a stop and engine winds up like it's in neutral, then drops into gear, sequels tires and accelerates. It has only done this 3-4 times in the last...

    Strut / Shock Suspension Codes

Well one of these days I will hopefully get the rest of the parts I ordered as its starting to eat my front tires, I guess I'll just rotate them to prevent too much damage to one pair. The alignment shop claims the front end is aligned but it needs struts, does anyone else's car eat the inside...

    2010 Timing Chain

The first time I did it, I had trouble aligning the CAC plumbing on the firewall side of the engine, and some of the timing cover bolts towards the firewall I remember being tricky to see/access (they are 'recessed' from the front of the cover) The first time it took over a week, but that's...

    2010 Timing Chain

I've done timing chains twice on my 2010 (Make sure you replace the phasers or you may end up doing it again like I did). If you are not already planning to, replace the water pump while you are in there, they have been known to fill the oil pan with coolant when they fail. I also replaced the...

    Strut / Shock Suspension Codes

I just replaced my rear impact bar last year because it was rusting. someone backed into me in a parking lot and there was a large pile of rust left on the ground, she was like "Is that from your car?" (she was in a brand new toyota suv) I was like "probably". My local dealer actually had them...

    Strut / Shock Suspension Codes

OOF over $750 in parts, that hurts, well hopefully it was worth it to go all OE. (Granted I should get $180 back when I warranty the old front struts but still, OOF)

    Strut / Shock Suspension Codes

Ok, Dealer said the updated part number for my VIN is CG1Z-18125-A and that the insulator (CG1Z-18197-A) must be replaced as well as it was also updated. Both of which Tasca & Rock Auto have in stock. Interestingly enough, they are listed as suspension A,B,C,D,E so I guess they are all lumped...

    Strut / Shock Suspension Codes

Those are for the 5th gen (2013+) will they fit a 2010? Tasca says they will not.

    Ptu pump

Just to suck it out, I used a hand fluid transfer pump to refill, I'm not sure the exact one I used as I've had it for years but I think it was this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQW5LK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Ptu pump

I used this one (looks like it is out, but there are several like it): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013WJT8N0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 removed the 'bleeder' fitting and stuck the hose down the fill plug hole and it did the job, but I also had the rear cat off for...

    Strut / Shock Suspension Codes

I had a toe link failure on my 2010 SHO, so after replacing both toe links I took it in for an alignment and they informed me that my front struts and rear shocks were bad (they lumped all 4 springs in with that 'recommended replacement'). My door sticker reads Suspension "CCGG" so when I...

Is it time to replace turbos?

After suctioning out the CAC yesterday, I raised the driver's side of the car about 8" and left it that way over night and while I was at work today, and when I got home I put the dipstick back down in the CAC and there was more oil in there. Now I just need to figure out how so much oil is...

Is it time to replace turbos?

I believe that is where the atmospheric side of the right (rear) re-circulation (blow off) valve attaches. If oil comes out there it is from the pressurized side of the turbos.

Is it time to replace turbos?

Welp, seems I spoke too soon, car started smoking again today, seems worst when coming off idle and turning. I pulled the CAC lines off when I got home and there is oil in them again and I suctioned another couple oz of fluid out of the CAC (I cleaned the CAC tubing and suctioned out the CAC the...

Is it time to replace turbos?

I figured it was hard to go wrong with Valvoline, It's also what I run in the 9.75 rear in my truck. 600 miles down on the SHO and so far so good, It might even be a touch peppier, but it's hard to tell for sure since I was driving the truck for a week in between.

Is it time to replace turbos?

Done, Turbo is replaced, Drove it for about 20 miles today. It did smoke for the first 5-10 but seemed to clear up after that. It's snowing & the roads are wet, so if it is still smoking, it's not describable from the mist thrown up by the tires. We'll see for sure once it dries up outside.
