What are our Headlight Options in 2026?
Deathcus I sent you a PM about a nice pair of Sable OEM headlamps have had squirreled away for 20 years they had 50 k miles when I got them. Beam pattern on the DEPO not as good in my opinion.- zak

Gen 1 and Gen 3 at Mecum this week
Interesting that for Mecum at least miles are up there, approaching 70 K on both, my impression is they like less than 50 K typically. Agreed nice that the SHO is getting national attention. Can see the auctioneer squeezing in "welded cams". -

Headlight assembly swap project
On the Gen I's about the only upgrade was to add the PIAA driving lights in place of the fogs. You could also get a relay harness to supply direct (higher) voltage from the alternator directly to the headlights to prevent overloading the switch in the steering coumn plus far less voltage drop...- zak

Make sure the 2K clear you use is formulated for polycarbonate, otherwise it can craze (crack).- zak

The problem with the sanding technique is you are removing the UV protection built into the lens, plus the 3 nubs used for headlight aiming are difficult to remove. Somewhere have the name of a really high end UV coating detailers use (AC something) that you can apply after polish but it only...- zak

Injectors or stem seals, try getting injectors cleaned first (I have an aftermarket set kicking around that no longer need).- zak

ANother trick I just used, at the recommendation of a local engine rebuilder, on a different (not SDHO) DOHC engine, if you do get high leakdown rate, get a drill onto the end of the exhaust valve and spin each of them against the seat, if a chunk of carbon is holding it open it will "fix" that...- zak
