I have the bump in my Taurus, my wife has the same bump in her Ford Explorer (non ecoboost 3.5) so I'd definitely equate it to the transmission. We just ignore it as it doesn't happen often and the dealership seemed to think we were nuts when we brought it up.
(meaning we can't recreate it on...
Is it possible to keep stock boost in every gear except final? I'd really like to get my 27+mpg on cruise (at 70mph, ie higher rpms) without worrying that at that speed I'm using too much boost to keep it cheap on fuel...
Glad to hear I'm not the only one. If I just had to guess at what was causing the problem, half the time I would blame the traction control algorithms, the other half I would blame the engine control algorithms, which I'm sure are both very interrelated...
I'm still driving with the tune...
Any highway MPG numbers? I'd really like a program that would give me less boost in top gear for cruising economy and be aggressive in any other gear. In my 6.0 diesel, anything over 2k rpms on the highway and it sucked down fuel because of the boost, even though I didn't need that power most...
Anything new on this? Able to generate any clean graphs yet? Wouldn't mind having 480hp in my SHO; also wouldn't mind knowing the tranny could deal with it well
Did your hesitation issues disappear after the 'calibration' you did or did it go away as a result of the TSB fixes? Or are you able to discern between them?
Thanks
Hadn't heard of that yet but will investigate more. I think I'll have to pull the tune to see if anything changes. I also really hope it doesn't feel too much slower...
I haven't resorted to removing the tune yet. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to think there's a problem (no codes or lights). I'm not a tuner so I don't know a huge amount about this but I understand this stuff to be lookup tables across a matrix of values and ranges, or at worst, linear...
I don't think it's winter gas either. I'm switched to the 91 tune (still running 93 gas) and there's zero difference in how it acts (maybe a tad slower, but same overall issues with sluggish spot(s) and rev limiter vs shifting)
I've also started noticing this; there seems to be a bit of sluggishness in the mid-high RPM range. Has anyone else noticed any issues with the traction control being overly aggressive and hitting the rev-limiter instead of shifting from 1st to 2nd under hard acceleration?
