Honestly, is it worth putting the money back into this car?
So if you are getting 3500-4000 offers for the broken car and know someone who has an engine for 3500, would you sell it for that and connect the buyer with the seller of the engine? ~7K does not sound too bad for the package, even though one has to spend a few K's for the swap. Still under 10K...- Konrad

Honestly, is it worth putting the money back into this car?
I also question this mechanic needing 24 hours of labor to swap an engine? Unless of course, this guy does not have the necessary tools to do the swap job properly and efficiently in the first place. You may want to get some input from other mechanics!- Konrad

Does anyone recognize this part?
I second Greg's thought. It does look like an oil pressure relieve valve that was bathed in engine oil (which would make sense!). Have you googled the oiling system to possibly see an exploded view of all the parts?- Konrad
